Their decisions must be based on what is best for the patient and their needs, not the financial benefits to the practice or any other reason. Recording the history of the patient, assessing, examine and interpret, planning, understanding the needs of patients, explain the plan of treatment, recognising the factors affecting the treatment, obtain and record informed consent, pain management, giving respect..etc are included in what it mean to be a patient-centered care for a dental hygienist.
Development of knowledge, skills, and professional behaviour must continue throughout a practitioner's working life. Good practice involves keeping knowledge and skills up to date to ensure that practitioners continue to work within their competence and scope of practice. The National Law requires practitioners to undertake CPD.
