Describe Different Types Of Abuse
According to medical-dictionary.com, abuse can be defined as the misuse of something or using something the a bad effect. It can come in different shape and forms. Abuse can be categorized into who or what is being abused and the type of abuse. In order to determine what the type of abuse is, the who or what is being abused is an important part. Someone that can be a victim of abuse is a person’s wife/girlfriend or even, is then worse case, a child or anyone. Victim of abuse doesn't even have to be known. Also the thing being abused doesn’t have to be a human. Even animal are abused. Abuse is a learned behavior. Some abusers learned to abuse from their parents whether it be that they were the victim themselves or they watch someone else who was the victim. The type of a abuse is how the abuse is identified. This can range from physical abuse, verbal abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, cultural abuse, and financial abuse. Physical abuse is where the victim is beaten and the injuries are external. Bruises in the shape of a finger or hand and burns are examples of physical abuse. Most injuries aren’t seen by the naked eye and are hidden under clothing. Verbal abuse occurs when someone uses language, whether spoken or written, to cause harm to an individual. Verbal abuse occurs when someone uses words to cause hurt someone. Both of these abuses can effect child and wife. Neglect is the lack of providing a child with what they need in order to survive. Sexual violence is when someone is forced to unwillingly take part in sexual activity, an example is rape. Cultural violence occurs when an individual is harmed because the practices that are part of her or his culture. Financial abuse occurs when someone controls an another’s finances or materials without the person’s knowledge.
