Descriptive Essay: A Trip To Clayton New Mexico
In the Summer of last year, me and my sister traveled all the way out to Clayton, New Mexico, with our nina and her husband. We were traveling in a very shiny, large truck on roads far off from any store or even telephone poll. The air was so clean and full of the unknown flowers scents. It took almost a whole day to reach Clayton but the long journey was worth it because we saw so many cattle, horses, and even a great lake shining the sun’s bright, warm, and soothing light back, the lake looked like diamonds rolling against each other very smoothly and slowly. When me and my sister reached Clayton I could tell that it was a small community with local stores and a couple of big company stores such as Verizon and Sprint. The air here was …show more content…
The trip was quite fun because the mountains we were by were smooth while being very massive in size. The day was sunny at start but sooned became cloudy and grey I was worried that it would rain and we would have to cancel but that wasn’t the case. When we approached the lake it was massive very massive with little waves right behind each other while the smell of the open and the lake were all around me. The lake was beautiful while fish were jumping out into the air and splashed right back into the diamond lake. When I saw this I became so excited and was filled with joy. It was cloudy and breezy but the air around us was warm and soothing like being right by a fire on a breezy day. I quickly setup the equipment and grabbed my fishing rod, acquired the bait and started to fish. While I was fishing my Nina and her husband set up right by the edge of the ramp and me and my sister were set up on the side. The dog was right at the edge and about to fall of the ramp but he just stood there staring into the endless darkness of the lake. As i was enjoying the air I felt a tug on my rod and instantly knew There was a fish at the end, I instantly started to reel in my line a was struggling just a bit, the fish was also struggling and it was determined by who had the most stamina. I reeled in my line and there was a mid to large sized fished on the line and I felt proud that I caught my first fish of the day. After a hour I caught 4 fish and felt proud of myself for actually staying a whole day outside and having fun. We decided to head to the house when it started to rain. When we arrived at the house it was already turning night so we headed in but before we did that my Nina showed me how to gut a fish, even though it was disgusting it was informational. After that the rest of the stay was very relaxing and pleasent and was glad to travel there for half of the

I was with my dad fishing on a Friday during the summer at about 4:30 PM. The day was hot and bugs were everywhere around us. I had on jeans, a t-shirt and a vest to store any fish we catch. My dad had on the same, but i had a smaller fishing rod than he did because I was small and not really ready for a fishing rod like my dad’s. We went out to fish and started at a bridge that was very rundown and poorly maintained and didn’t catch much because of the current and rocks around where we were. We got one fish to bite but it fell off whenever we pulled it up out of the water. We then decided to move to another spot over by the cliffs and ridges because no one was there to get in the way. For a while we didn’t go anywhere too crazy and nowhere that took too much effort to get to. Little did I know was that it’d all change quicker than I thought..…

I almost fell right out of the canoe I was so startled. I casted my line right where I heard the splash and not ten seconds after, I saw a fish jump right out of the water and take my fly. It tug so hard the whole way i was reeling it in and i thought it was going to break but luckily I was able to get the fish to the boat. It was the biggest fish i’ve ever caught and even seen in real life. My dad tried to take a picture of my catch, before he could get the camera out, the fish slipped out of my hand and plopped into the water. That whole night was filled with fishing. I caught at least a dozen more, while my dad only caught three. On our way back to the cabin I told my dad,”That was seriously funny that i caught more fish than you and you’ve been here many more times than I have.”…

I also got to ride on the tall mountain which at that point was a cool thing. There were some things that made me unhappy and some that made me dramatically excited.…

What’s better to chill out a hot summer’s day than something sweet and cool? No, I am not talking about a Popsicle. I am not talking about an ice cream cone, either. I am not even talking about iced tea or lemonade. It is something better than all of those, and it doesn’t even have all the sneaky calories of those other tasty treats! The answer to the question is simple. Have you guessed it? It is a cherry.…

An apartment is a self contained housing unit that occupies only part of a building. Apartments may be owned (by an owner/occupier) or rented (by tenants). My first apartment was located in Brooklyn in the Flatbush section. It was a small but very conveniently located third floor apartment in a elevator building. The building only had five floors with a see through glass lobby entrance. The building had a doorman that worked from four until midnight. He was a very pleasant middle aged gentleman with a carribean accent. The lobby had a sunken waiting area with black leather sofa and arm chairs that looked like they were bought in the 1960`s, but well maintained. When you came into the building in the evening you could smell the strong scents of all types of seasoning especially curry due to the Indian family living near the elevator. When riding the elevator up to my apartment it would shake from side to side and occasionally would hold someone captive until the elevator repairman came to get them out. My apartment was located on the third floor. It had a small foyer with a small closet to the left, a living room that measured 11 feet by 17 feet . It also had a very small kitchen that only one person could cook in at a time otherwise you would be constantly bumping into the other cook. Next to the small kitchen was a half size bathroom whose vanity mirror would steam up due to not having any windows or a proper working ventilation duct. When you came out the bathroom to your right was a small bedroom that you could only get a minimal amount of furniture in. Basically this apartment was in the shape of a box that was sectioned off into four areas. To make it into a home I started with the living room, I painted the walls chocolate brown and bought a sofa to match. The sofa was made of a furry material so I bought an orange chaise lounge to go with the sofa. I also bought earth tone curtains to mellow out the loud look of the orange chaise. I placed the orange chaise…

I was so excited that grandpa was finally taking me fishing. Ever since I saw the monster of a fish in his basement, I dreamt that one day we would catch a shark together. Friday night grandpa called me. I sat in the chair with the phone held to my face. I smile stretched from cheek to cheek when he said we were going to go fishing. That night I was hardly able to sleep. The anticipation of this momentous occasion filled my mind with dreams of the fish that I would see swimming in the crystal clear water around me. I envisioned sticking my head under the water and looking around as the aquatic life zoomed around me, then all the fish erupted in song- or maybe that was scenes from The Little Mermaid making a guest appearance in my elated state of dreams. Whatever it was, I could hardly anticipate what the next day had in store for me.…

I jump into the calm, cold, dark blue water anxious to water ski for the first time since last year. My family likes do many different sports and activities together and one of the many sports is water skiing. Every year me and my family go up to lake arrowhead to water ski and this year we went during the summer. It has been a year since I water skied but I was anxious to get back up on skis. My uncle driving the boat asks me if I am ready and I nervously nodded my head yes, as the boat started to pull me up the cold lake water was splashing me in my face and it almost felt like someone was slapping in my face multiple times. As through the processes of getting up on water skis you must let the boat pull you up so it can take anywhere between 10- 20 seconds, so as the boat was pulling me up, I thought to myself this is not fun at all from getting water up your nose to having to bend your knees in the right position for the longest time I thought to myself this is not worth it but after about 13 seconds that felt like 13 minuets I was water skiing and it was the best feeling in the world, just like the feeling that you can fly or do anything.…

    A Lucky Day

It was a beautiful Sunday morning, my dad hit upon a sudden idea that he would like us to try something different we have never done before. When hearing that, I couldn’t wait to do something special and funny and expected where Dad was going to take us. With joy and excitement, we kids sang happily and talked cheerfully all the way in the car. When we arrived the quiet and peaceful country with a great view welcoming our visiting, I just felt like I was in a wonderland surrounded with many giant trees, lovely birds, beautiful flowers, and other nature creatures. Of course, I couldn’t miss the good chance of taking pictures of the wonderful scenery. Before long, I heard Dad’s calling not far from me. To my surprise, he was ready to teach me how to catch a fish by giving me a fishing rod. The rivers in the suburbs were so clean and clear that we could see a lot of fish swimming here and there. Actually, it was my first time to try fishing, so I was kind of nervous and excited. As time went by, the longer I waited, the more patience I lost because I got nothing but some plastic bags or let the small fish slip out of my bait. While I was about to give up, the fishing rod in my hand was suddenly shaking hard. Did I catch the big fish? I asked the question in my mind and hoped that my guess was right. Oh, yes, “I got a huuuuuge fish, come over here to help me, Dad! I couldn’t pull it up.” Everybody heard me crying and rushed to the river side to help me pull out the big fish. Everyone in my family was shocked by what I caught. I never thought I was able to get such a pretty big fish. The feeling of catching the first big fish was the same as the feeling of winning the first prize in the lottery game. I thought I was lucky enough because I didn’t have any experience of catching fish. Even though I didn’t get any other surprises from the deep river in the rest time, I was very satisfied with the unexpected harvest. To me, it was a lucky day and it gave me an…
