Personal Narrative Essay About Fishing
Did you ever want to catch a big fish? Because I know I have always wanted to. I was walking threw my kitchen getting something to eat with my cousin. I saw my mom and we were talking about fishing so we asked if we could go up north this weekend to go fishing. She said yes because she had to to plenty of work. I packed my clothes into my black and red bag. Because my bag was full, I got another bag. We then went up north, and my dad came to.

We have finally arrived an hour later. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day at the Van Handel's cottage. We immediately ran down to the lake to see if the water was warm. It was as cold as ice. So we ran back up to the cottage to help carry in. We got everything in the house. We were about to go fishing until my mom said we had to help unpack to. We started with the drinks. First we did the milk, then gatorade, powerade, soda, and beer. We were finally done with the drinks. Then we had to move on to the food. Pizza, strawberries, grapes, pineapple, and eggs. By the time we finished unpacking the foods and drinks it was a little past noon. Finally we were on our way down to the lake with our fishing supplies.

We saw a big pack of fish. We sometimes just fish and the catch them and at the end we see how much we can get, but this time we only wanted bigger ones. At night if we went fishing all we could get is bull heads. Those were one of the most annoyingest fish I have ever caught because when you catch them I hate taking it off, that is why we didn't wanna fish at night. So we casted it out about 20 feet at the beginning and we decided to go out to the raft that is farther out so we didn't have to try to cast it so far. We saw a teeny tiny perch but we didn't have a care about it. Then we started to not care what we got so we casted it in by the dock. And we reeled in a medium sized panfish in the first second we casted. My mom then hollered us up for

I have a deep interest in the ocean and marine life, which was fostered when my family and I moved to the Pacific Coast. This interest grew further after I went on a backstage tour to the aquarium at the Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. Due to this continuous exposure to the ocean and the creatures that live there, I am focusing my education around my interest in marine life. It's for this reason that I’m majoring in Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry. With this education, my goal is to become an Aquarist, and build my way up to becoming an ocean or aquarium diver. As a diver, I want to have the opportunity to study coral reefs, and create and implement conservation plans. In addition, I want to study sea turtles and ways to conserve their declining…

We all swam and got our poles and began fishing. I swam out to the raft and began to bait my hook Jack just got out and swam and fished and John went to the dock. At about 6ish we had a few fish in the live trap nothing to big. I was changing my hook leaving my line in the water looking at my tackle box trying to figure out what to use when my pole shot toward the water. I quickly grabbed it and my line began to wine. I set my hook and my pole was bent an extreme angle. I was using my large fish pole so I was lucky in that sense it took me over a half hour to reel it in, it was a large pike. That was my last fish of the night and began to clean all the fish while Jack and John got the fire started. We cooked at ate the fish while we just sat till almost midnight. Living near Cannery Row a historical street in Monterey, California, fishing has always been a part of the environment I have grown up in. Fishing goes beyond the typical “hobby” we might think it is, it is much more. It plays a huge role in our economy as well as food source. Yet we have not stopped to think of the toll it takes on the different species living in our oceans as well as our oceans. Banning the barbed hook used to bait and capture the fish is a step we must take. Not just for the fish, but also it will show the people that the fishermen do not harm the fishes, and help portray a better image of fishermen.…
