Fake Fish Swim Analysis
I was a fake fish that was thrown onto the pool deck and left to dry. The pool had its shallow ends and it had even deeper ones for those who knew how to swim. I stared at the 6 ft area wanting to jump in and swim with the others. I walked off the pool deck in despair and onto the grass to sit on my towel and reevaluate my

The reason for this experiment was to test the agonistic behavior in the male Betta fish. The experiment was conducted by making puppets and showing a mirror image to the the fish; then we could record how fish responded to the stimuli. The hypothesis was supported by the experiment, and our group concluded that a fish feels his zone is being invaded when being tailed around by a mirror model puppet.…

Being exposed to different kinds of poetry from childhood, I grew fond of it though now I prefer fictional prose to poetry. As a profoundly sensuous form of creative writing, poetry both challenges my mind and conquers my aesthetic sense with its subtle wording. But specifically because it is a thought provoking and demanding form of writing I do not read poetry often. Therefore, the variety of topics, styles and forms of poems collected in Alehouse Journal 2011 disoriented me completely. However, the poems were carefully selected and united under the common styles, topics, and forms. Dreams was one of such topics. The complex nature of dreams make them one of the most prolific topics in poems.…

Not many people think that they are going to get in a plane crash and that they are going to get saved by a man in the water. Well in the article The Man In The Water by Roger Rosenblatt, he explained how one man sacrificed his own life to help others. Also in his article he explains how the man in the water didn’t think that he was going to save the other passengers lives over his own. Roger explains how this crash was not very significant except for the man who saved others lives over his own. Putting others peoples lives before your own is very significant to the story The Man In The Water.…

“Take This Fish and Look at it*” by Samuel H. Scudder is the most compelling essay for this week’s reading assignment because the author wrote in an organized, laughable tone; therefore, allowing its audience to perceive the lesson as the professor intended it to be learned. Likewise, Scudder used three different apparent modes in his essay, these include: comparison / contrast, narrative, and description. I particularly liked this essay because it relates to the great significance that in every scenario, even writing, that things can be overlooked and need to be re-examined to find better, more sufficient details. Scudder also uses humor throughout his narrative, which compared to some essays, is quite enjoyable. Overall, every individual…

It was about 10:00 and it was time for our free period when we were allowed to go down the slides, the diving boards, or just swim on our own. Three of my buddies said they were going to go off the high dive, I was too shy to speak up about being afraid. I knew it was too little too late now I had to face my fears and just jump. We got in line, and it was as if I was in a trans just staring at everyone climb up the ladder and without hesitation jump and plunge into the icy water. Before I knew it I was on deck and I could feel stomach churning a little bit, as if on cue I heard the splash of Sam and knew it was my turn. I grabbed the metal bars and slowly made my way to the top, I felt like I was a mile off the…

Since the dream assignment was initially assigned, I have been having strange and weird dreams that I would not even be able to being explaining, so I decided to choose a dream I had in the past that I vividly remember. A couple years ago, probably four or five, I had a dream that I will probably remember forever. In this dream, I died. I remember being in an immeasurably large and murky room. The only thing in the room, besides myself, was an enormous pool. It was a strange start to the dream, but that was only the beginning. I began walking beside the pool and thought everything was going to be okay and that all I had to do was leave that room. During that time, something from the inside of the pool reached out for my legs, I tried to run away from it, but it pulled me into the water. I tried to get out and tried to hold onto the side of the pool, but it pulled my whole body under the water. I could no longer breathe and had no other choice than to give up. That is…

About 500 years ago there was a young origami master named Daishinji who lived in a small fishing village in Japan. Daishinji was beginning to become well known for what she could do with a single sheet of paper. One day she decided to fold a sheet of paper into a fish. Amazed by her creation she then called it a masterpiece with its almost real-liked looked. After listening for a long time, the paper fish finally spoke. His first three words were “I am lonely”. The origami fish decides that he wants to be set free into the ocean with the other sea creatures. Pleased by the fish’s ability to communicate, Daishinji folded a world full of sea creatures but the fish wasn’t happy because he wanted a real ocean which was deep, wet, and full of mysteries. At first, the master is afraid for her creation, it will be destroyed as soon as it hits the water. Finally, she trusts her creation and amazingly (even if briefly) the fish becomes real, and a part of something much bigger than Daishinji could ever have imagined, proving that an idea cannot be truly realized until it is free. How the Paper Fish Learned to Swim presents a fable as a springboard to unlocking creativity and innovation in the workplace. The book gives us a proven structure to encourage innovation in others, and to discover the wonder of creating something that truly comes to life. Including a true-to-life case study and ten scenarios for applying the Paper Fish Process in business situations, the book is both an enveloping read and a powerful workplace tool. As beautifully illustrated as it is gracefully told, How the Paper Fish Learned to Swim gives as the key to unlocking our greatest resource . . . the minds of people." According to Einstein “Imagination is more powerful than knowledge,” and he was right. We can know absolutely everything about the past through study and as much as we can about the present through…
