Personal Narrative-I Grow Up By A Lake
I grew up by a lake. My family helped build the lake back in the 1800s but we no longer live on it, we sold our part back in 1960’s. We knew several people that lived on the lake that would let us use their lots to swim, fish, and just have a good time. I took my friends there often and I had a few birthday parties there. It became a common hang out for me and my friends. It became a sunday afternoon hangout for us. It became a good place for us to spend time with each other. I distinctly remember going down there with two of my friends Jack and John. On this particular time, Jack was already down there and I had to pick up John. he suggested we grab some firewood to cook what we caught for dinner. To me, that sounded like a good idea so we got about three bundles of firewood and a lighter. When we got to the lot John and me surprised Jack by telling him our plan to cook what we caught. At this time it was about three. Jack took off his shirt and ran into the lake at full speed and feel about five feet into the water. John ran to the …show more content…

We all swam and got our poles and began fishing. I swam out to the raft and began to bait my hook Jack just got out and swam and fished and John went to the dock. At about 6ish we had a few fish in the live trap nothing to big. I was changing my hook leaving my line in the water looking at my tackle box trying to figure out what to use when my pole shot toward the water. I quickly grabbed it and my line began to wine. I set my hook and my pole was bent an extreme angle. I was using my large fish pole so I was lucky in that sense it took me over a half hour to reel it in, it was a large pike. That was my last fish of the night and began to clean all the fish while Jack and John got the fire started. We cooked at ate the fish while we just sat till almost midnight. At the end of the night, we all went home, Jack got in trouble because he was supposed to be home at

I was with my dad fishing on a Friday during the summer at about 4:30 PM. The day was hot and bugs were everywhere around us. I had on jeans, a t-shirt and a vest to store any fish we catch. My dad had on the same, but i had a smaller fishing rod than he did because I was small and not really ready for a fishing rod like my dad’s. We went out to fish and started at a bridge that was very rundown and poorly maintained and didn’t catch much because of the current and rocks around where we were. We got one fish to bite but it fell off whenever we pulled it up out of the water. We then decided to move to another spot over by the cliffs and ridges because no one was there to get in the way. For a while we didn’t go anywhere too crazy and nowhere that took too much effort to get to. Little did I know was that it’d all change quicker than I thought..…

Fish on! Fish on! We were fishing on Eagle Lake Canada and we were headed to our lucky spot by Bird Turd island it is out in the BIG lake. We are fishing on a windy day, we hit a huge 4 foot wave head on and our Crestliner boat capsized. I quickly grabbed my backpack, in my backpack I had a marine radio, a survival kit, sunscreen, and some extra food. We swam to closest island call Bird Turd island. I looked back, all of my belonging were sinking to the bottom of the lake. We were shipwrecked! I was screaming and screaming and screaming for help but no one could hear me. I heard a boat so I screamed so more and no one was there. I was hoping someone was coming. I stayed there for what felt like hours, so I decided to walk around and look at the island. I came across and tiny little shed.…

Compassion fatigue is not a new concept. As long as individuals have needed help, people have come to the rescue. Originally it was identified in social workers, as they see sad, sometimes devastating situations that they must deal with on a daily basis. In 1992, Joinson identified the concept of compassion fatigue in nursing. According to Potter, Deshields, Divanbeigi, Berger, Cipriano, Norris & Olsen, (2010), Joinson identified behaviors that were characteristic of compassion fatigue, including chronic fatigue, irritability, dread going to work, aggravation of physical ailments, and a lack of joy in life. Dr. Charles Figley expanded on the concept and more formally defined compassion fatigue in 1995. Figley explained compassion fatigue as…

We had taken the boat from Hell Creek to Snow Creek every day because we have had good luck over there in the past few years. The sixth evening my sister and my dad's good friend, Randy had shot two cows but it was to dark to stay out and track them down. The next morning we went back over and it was a very cold day with the windshield putting the weather passed -20. But knowing that I would have to be packing out elk I decided to not bring very many layers of clothes. When we got there my grandfather decided he did not want to get out so him and my uncle Daniel went to the other side of the bay to go deer hunting while everyone was elk hunting on the West side of Snow Creek Bay. The highlight of the trip was parasailing. Halee, Hannah, Hannah, Jason, Jason’s friend, and I were all loaded onto a banana boat, a bright yellow blown up raft that was in the shape of a banana. A man on a jet ski pulled us to a larger boat farther out in the ocean. The larger boat was white, with the word PARASAIL painted on the side in big, bold letters. I would guess it was probably 10 or 15 feet long. We were transferred from the banana boat to the larger boat and sat on the benches lining the clean, white walls. Three men chose Halee, Hannah M, and me to go first. We were loaded up in a harness like the ones you use when ziplining, and hooked to a big red, parasail that has Coca-Cola written in big, white letters on the side. As we were preparing to leave I could hear my heart pounding in my chest. The boat accelerated forward and my feet left the rough surface of the back of the boat. Beside me, I could hear my little sister squealing with…

It was about 10:00 and it was time for our free period when we were allowed to go down the slides, the diving boards, or just swim on our own. Three of my buddies said they were going to go off the high dive, I was too shy to speak up about being afraid. I knew it was too little too late now I had to face my fears and just jump. We got in line, and it was as if I was in a trans just staring at everyone climb up the ladder and without hesitation jump and plunge into the icy water. Before I knew it I was on deck and I could feel stomach churning a little bit, as if on cue I heard the splash of Sam and knew it was my turn. I grabbed the metal bars and slowly made my way to the top, I felt like I was a mile off the…

I stopped talking just long enough to see them get in. I was furious. but I couldnt help from…
