Descriptive Essay: Sioux City
I am originally from Sioux City, Iowa which is known as “Little Chicago”. Sioux city is a small city with a population of 82,459. Sioux city is the fourth largest city in Iowa and is known for having a large volume of cornfields. I have lived in Sioux City my whole entire life and it is a boring city. There isn’t much someone could do. Downtown is small and we don’t have a lot of varieties of restaurants to choose from. Then are mall only has one floor and has a few stores to shop from and the only good about Sioux City was that there was hardly any traffic. I’ve always wanted to leave the city and go somewhere else in the united states and explore.
Until one day my Uncle bought us plane tickets to Anaheim, California I was super excited to experience a new city. As we boarded the plane to go to California and I sat with my little brother Eastman. We have never been on a plane before, as we were walking we found our seats and sat down I was by the window. As soon as we were up in the air I looked outside the

Before we were going to go inside I noticed all these other restaurants I’ve never even heard of like an Inn & Out and Jack in The Box Johnny Rocket. They all looked amazing my mouth was getting watery I wanted to go try them all. As we walked inside the restaurant you could hear the bells and the water fountains, they had full of koi fish it was amazing. Then after we finished eating we went to the mall it was astonishing it had four floors way more than Sioux City’s mall. There were so many stores that I’ve always wanted to shop at. After we were done the shopping we were heading to the beach I have never been to the beach before. It was so nice seeing the waves and seagulls fly around as I was standing I could feel the sand in my toes standing there with my feet in the cold water. It felt so relaxing it made me want to visit more places than

Back in the summer of 2013 my family was deciding on what vacation we should go on. It took us until July to finally decide where we wanted to go and we chose San Diego. At the time I didn’t know where San Diego was and frankly I thought we were going to Florida. When we got in the car and started to drive I was very confused on the fact we were not going to an airport. On the eight hour car ride there it took my family around an hour and a half to explain that we were not going to Florida.…

When I open the door it was like a home filled with love and purity my ideal home it was just perfect. As soon as u walk in you see an average size kitchen on the right and a big bathroom with a bedroom on the left and when you keep walking straight there is a living room and a balcony with the most spectacular view of the pier and upstairs there is a bathroom and two rooms. For the first week or so it felt like I was in heaven waking up in the morning and looking upon the whole town covered in fog going to the rocks and looking for crabs, snails, and shells. One day we decide to go to the ocean and although it was cold we went and started searching for shells and then we found something that I happen to know what it was but never actually felt it alive and fresh out the water. I picked it up and showed it to my friend and we started running to the apartments and showed everyone what we found, everyone had their mouths open and started to touch it. There was a tiny voice that started to say to put the purple starfish back because it deserves to live and so i went back and tried to go as deep as I can to lay it down so no one will harm it. For many days we went to the beach till sunrise to sunset watching the tides rise and decrease and seeing the…

In the summer before 9th grade, things were not going great for my family and me, things in school had been very bad, and things at home and out of school were even worse. At the end of July my mother and I, were looking to go on a trip, to get our minds off of everything that had happened in the past year. We threw ideas around, like going to Vermont, Maine, Pennsylvania, and other nearby states to go sightseeing in. We had almost decided on going to Hershey, Pennsylvania, to go to the amusement park, and see other attractions for a few days, but while looking I saw an advertisement for Universal in Florida. I started looking at plane tickets, hotels, and rental cars. We found an awesome deal, and we booked it. I went to go talk to my friend Chris, on Facebook to tell him I was going, as a joke he said, “Take me too!” I told my mom what he said, she laughed and said “Why not?” I told him to convince his parents because we were leaving in 2 days. It took him a full day, but Wednesday night Chris and his mom showed up to my house with his bags packed ready to go to Florida.…

In the 2nd grade, I was living with my grandparents for the year as my current house was being built. Never had I been home alone either. But then, one day, I was instructed not to take the bus home from school, as my father had told me to stay at school. As my day went on, I had forgotten this detail. Therefore, when I got home there was nobody at the house. Crying, I started looking through the windows to see if maybe someone was inside, as I had no way inside. But then, when all hope had vanished. A cop drove very slowly past. My eyes widened and my heart started racing, as I frantically waved down the cop and explained my situation through tears. The cop was very kind and sympathetic. She gave me a hug as I cooled down. She took me to the police station as we waited for my parents. Her fellow co-workers gave me a tour around the police station. By that time, I had almost forgotten that I didn't even have my parents with me, when my grandma showed up to retrieve me. Running as fast as my little legs could carry me, I ran into her arms, and I never…

While there we also visited my grandpa who lived on a ranch where it rained avocadoes. Gates that had grown green and fluffy moss at the corners opened up. I saw two monster, bright, neon green four wheelers. My heart beating and being the daredevil of my siblings I was jumping with excitement! Once we were all settled two of my older cousins decided to start the four wheelers up. As I heard the engines roar to life my cousins hollered who wanted a ride. The rest of my cousins beat me to the line and I was last. Standing there impatiently waiting and watching as they sped off into the trees and not returning for about twenty minutes each. The anticipation was killing me! While kicking dirt around I heard the engine coming from a distance, Finally my turn! To my luck my cousins were tired and hopped off the motors. My excitement crushed instantly. My dad came to the rescue and told me he would take me. Excitement…
