Despicable Me Character Analysis

The movie “Despicable Me” Directed by Pierre Coffin. Is a movie about a evil villain who has a plan to still the moon and he adopts these three little girls to help him. Throughout the movie he beings to love them. Even though there is darkness in the world a little light can still change the way. I will be focusing specifically on the main character Gru. I will be discussing and exploring his change in personality, mainly his big heart. At the beginning of the movie Gru is portrayed as an egoist he only thinks about himself. He was this evil scientist trying to become the best evil villain possible. He uses these three little girls, Agnes, Edith, and Margo to exhort his plan. They are three girls who are in foster care. His plan worked he stole the shrink ray. On their way back from the mission they pass a carnival and that is where Gru’s heart began to grow, they played games won prizes “Oh, my gosh look at that fluffy unicorn!” Agnes looks at the unicorn with awe “He's so fluffy, I'm gonna die!” They came home happy with their faces painted and filled with joy it was like Gru forgot all about being evil. The dilemma was with Dr. Nefario, which was Gru’s evil assistant. Dr. Nefario name is symbolism to the word Nefarious which means evil which is ironic because Dr. Nefario was iniquitous. He was the one thing keeping Gru from connecting with the girls. He was not happy about this at all Gru was losing his focus and he was not going to be able to be the best villain in the world with theses girls around as a distraction. Each day Gru grew more and more closely with the girls and his heart grew bigger and bigger “It's like my heart is a tooth, and it's got a cavity that can only be filled with children.” Gru began to learn how to love. He started to care for these girls he made them pancakes every morning. He loved them and it was a change because he was supposed to be a evil villain and evil villains are not supposed to show
