This requires two additional years of study in advance of a bachelor's degree. Nurse Practitioners need to be critical theorist; they must seize admissible information about a patient's health condition from an ample assortment of sources and use that dossier to freely make witness-based judgments on when, why, and how to undertake health care demands. NPs also need to be able to deal with stress. Sometimes this job can deal with human suffering, emergencies, and other pressures that can be overwhelming. If you are one of the many people who are interested in becoming a Nurse Practitioner, it is best that I inform you that there a national evolution that is expanding at a great pace in the United States that requires all Nurse Practitioners to acquire a Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P) degree. "This particular degree is called a practice doctorate and is analogous to the collegiate accreditation earned by dentists (D.D.S), physicians (M.D/D.O), clinical psychologists (Psy. D or Ph.D), clinical pharmacists (Pharm.D), and many other health care…

In contrast, a nurse practitioner is required to attain a masters degree in nursing. For certain scopes of practice, advanced training is mandatory. To receive their NP licensure, forty-two states say it is necessary for them to obtain national certification. In comparison to the RN educational opportunities, some colleges offer RN to MSN programs. These programs tend to be longer than the RN to BSN program and require more from students who are deficient in RN experience (Nursing Schools,…
Advanced practice nurse’s are reimbursed at a lower rate for the same services than physicians by Medicare, Medicaid and other private insurance companies. American medical association sets our scope of practice and regulations and legislation is often influenced by these recommendations. Advanced practice nurses should be consider as equal members of the healthcare provider community and receive equal reimbursement. To make these changes one must develop a plan and advocate for the profession.…
I love the nursing field; there are a variety of nursing specialties. Job opportunities for nurses are endless. A nurse practitioner is a great career choice to choose they also are called NPs. NPs are one of the largest healthcare careers. Nurse practitioners diagnose and treat patients, order tests, do treatment plans, physical exams, immunization shots, and prescribe medications under the direction of the physician. I would love to become a family nurse practitioner. I chose family because I want to work with all different ages groups for example, pediatrics, geriatrics, and obstetrics. To become a nurse practitioner, I will first have to earn a bachelor’s of science in nursing and pass the NCLEX-RN. Once I do that, I will be a registered nurse. Next, I will work as a registered nurse to gain experience. Then, obtain a master of science in nursing. Also, take courses in family nursing theory and intervention, acute and chronic illness management, research, primary healthcare concerns and leadership preparation. Furthermore, obtain board certification in family practice through the American Nurses Credentialing Center of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and finally a certified family…

In my aspirations to become a Registered Nurse, I volunteered at Humber River Hospital. I started as a co-op student in high school, and as I met with nurses and doctors there I decided to continue volunteering after my co-op placement. Volunteering at a hospital has been the most valuable experience for me because it gave me a chance to see the roles of nurses.…
As a reluctant and nervous nineteen-year-old, I walked in to my first day as a nurse aid to a brightly lit, and mostly bubble gum pink Women’s Service’s unit. I worked there through nursing school; and happily accepted a job as a nurse after graduating. Nine years, and a lot of joy, tears, and learning in between, I continue to call this place my home. There is much satisfaction in being part of the continuum of care of women and families during the antepartum, labor and delivery, and the postpartum period, as well as the care of her newborn baby, and for some women, before and after gynecological surgeries. This mostly happy area of practice is not immune to tragedy, and the to have ability to be with a family and counsel them in their…
