Essay On Becoming A Nurse Practitioner
I love the nursing field; there are a variety of nursing specialties. Job opportunities for nurses are endless. A nurse practitioner is a great career choice to choose they also are called NPs. NPs are one of the largest healthcare careers. Nurse practitioners diagnose and treat patients, order tests, do treatment plans, physical exams, immunization shots, and prescribe medications under the direction of the physician. I would love to become a family nurse practitioner. I chose family because I want to work with all different ages groups for example, pediatrics, geriatrics, and obstetrics. To become a nurse practitioner, I will first have to earn a bachelor’s of science in nursing and pass the NCLEX-RN. Once I do that, I will be a registered nurse. Next, I will work as a registered nurse to gain experience. Then, obtain a master of science in nursing. Also, take courses in family nursing theory and intervention, acute and chronic illness management, research, primary healthcare concerns and leadership preparation. Furthermore, obtain board certification in family practice through the American Nurses Credentialing Center of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and finally a certified family …show more content…
My interest for nursing began when my nurse practitioner let me use her stethoscope to hear my heart beat. I thought that was so amazing how the human body works. At that very moment, I knew that’ what I wanted to be. I realized it’s going to take a lot of hard work and dedication to accomplish my dream. Yes, I can become a family nurse practitioner. Being a nurse practitioner would be a great field for me. Becoming a nurse practitioner is a lifelong dream that I will reached through dedication and ambition.     My name is Jennifer Mast when I was three years old my sister was born when she came out the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck three times she was dead, but they brought her back to life after that she had seizures every three minutes of the day she had spent a lot of time in the hospital and so did I. when she had turned five years old we drove to California so my sister could get half of her brain removed so the seizures would stop. As a eight year old child does I asked the doctors and nurses plenty of questions I even asked what they were going to do with her brain and if I could see it. Watching the doctors and nurses work on my sister at such a young age helping to save my sisters life made me want to pursue a job in nursing ever since I was a young girl. I want to help people and their families like they had helped us. So I begun in high school I attended vocational school to become a nurses aid. I have been a nurse aid for seven years. I have also been a med-tech for the past three years. I have worked in different fields as a nurses aid. I have worked in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and home health care. They all were very enjoy able jobs. I would make a go licensed practical nurse because I care about people wants and needs and I am compassionate about the job I do and how its done. To heel some who is sick or injured or just a family member who needs someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on I am always there to help. The reward of making someone else who needs help feel better is a feeling you cant explain it makes you feel like you have done your job to make someone else have another day in the world of life.
