The code of Hammurabi wasn’t fair in many cases because of the history behind it, at the time the social status and rights of women were much less than what they should’ve been and it took social status into heavy consideration so the higher class citizen was much more likely to get the better end of the situation whether they were in the wrong or not. The difference between the beatitudes are something a little harder to define because not only do they both come from religion but the same religion: Catholicism. The beatitudes in contrast to the commandments focused on the change of the person and how they can be filled with spiritual happiness through charity, humility, and loving one another. This is the teaching of Jesus recorded from the sermon on the Mount, because although they provide a way to the afterlife with God forever it also gives of a way to happiness spiritually here on Earth during our constant effort to achieve heaven. The similarities vary between the simple fact that they are guidelines that tell us how to live, the best way to live a happy life for the people under it’s influence. The first way that they can relate is the probably most simple and obvious fact that they are a set of rules or guidelines. These all are given to a group or society of people to follow so that it can make theirs, the “ruler”s or everyone's life much easier. They are meant to follow the norms and rules that are entitled with that culture. The next is how they are all meant to help, whether they do or not is not for me to say but the creation of these rules are for it to make the people better people, easier to manage, or situations easier to handle, like most or all set of rules. Of course we know that these rules and laws influence multiple different groups of people and culture but they all are expected to follow them and respect them because they are given to them by what they believe have divine or godly influence. The 10 commandments were believed to be given to us by God himself to Moses on the mountain. The 8 beatitudes were taught by Jesus who we believe is the son of God and the one true “representative” for God on Earth among humans as a human.
