The Unjust Of Hammurabi's Codes
Some of Hammurabi's codes were just but most of them were unjust. Hammurabi's codes were too rough and unfair to people because son's would get their hands cut off for things that could have been handled differently and better, debts were not fair, and slaves were treated differently than free people. In document C, law number 195, it said " If a son has struck his father, his hands shall be cut off." This law was unjust because they should have no right to cut the son's hands for hitting his father For instance, instead of cutting off his hands they could have grounded him or hit him back so he can respect his father next time. This situation could have been handled better and with more respect.

Hammurabi’s code was unjust because of it’s family laws. For example, law 168(doc c) gives the judge control over a man’s property. The man should be allowed to remove his son from his will because it’s his property. Maybe the son is lazy and never does anything. The judge should not decide what happens to property that isn’t his. Also, in law 195(doc c) the son is getting his hands cut off for striking his father.…

Hammurabi’s code was unjust because of property laws. In law 21 (excerpts from hammurabi’s code circa 1754 BCE. Doc E) it says “ If a man has broken the wall (to rob) a house, they shall put him to death and pierce him, or hang him the hole in the wall which he has made. Would you want a dead body in your house? Do you want your kids to see a man killed in your house? All of this seems like they will not clean up the body and they will just leave it there. When kids see a dead body they normally scream. When they actually see the person die they will have major trauma and that could affect their life forever.…

Hammurabi's code is not just because of its family law. In law 195, it says “ if a son has struck his father, his hands shall be cut off(doc C). This is unfair because the son is not being given another chance or he could be defending himself from an abusive father. In law 49 it says “ If a married lady is caught with another man, they shall bind them and cast them into the water(Doc C).” If a woman is seen making a trade with a man and this is mistaken as them having an affair, they get punished for something that is not true. The third way that Hammurabi's code is unfair is because it says “ If a ruler does not esteem my words, if he destroys the law which I have given, may the great gods of heaven and earth inflict a curse upon his family,…

Hammurabi had 282 laws many with extremely harsh punishments like death. Hammurabi was the ruler of Babylon for 42 years and was thought to have gotten his laws from the god of justice Shamash. I believe that Hammurabi’s code was unjust because of the family law, property law, and the personal injury law. First of all, it is unjust because of the family laws. Law 148 states that if a man's wife wife is severely ill the man can remarry but he cannot divorce the ill wife and still has to take care of her.…

Hammurabi’s code was a set of laws developed in Sargon to keep order within the city. In the time period men were powerful and treated like superiors over women. Hammurabi’s code favored men, but gave rights to women which differed from many societies in this time. Women were treated with respect and did not have to fight for rights. Women were acknowledged as an important attributes to the city but men were still favored in the law. This had a lot to do with Ben Zhao, and the instruction manual she created for women. She created a way for women to act and a way for women to have respect, while also respecting their fathers, brothers, and the men in which they were in a relationship.…

First of all; Hammurabi was a Mesopotamian king who recorded a system of laws called the Code of Hammurabi. Code of Hammurabi is a set of 282 rules and penalties devised by the Babylonian King, Hammurabi. King Hammurabi ruled Babylon, placed along the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers, from 1792–1750 BCE. During his time as king he oversaw a great expansion of his kingdom from a city-state to an empire. He was concerned about keeping order in his kingdom but that wasn't the only cause for amassing the list of laws. As he conquered other cities and his kingdom grew, he saw the need to unify the groups he controlled. To accomplish this goal, he needed one universal set of laws for all the people he conquered the Hammurabi Code.…

Why is Hammurabi’s Code just? Hammurabi's code is just for lots of reasons. One of the main reasons Hammurabi created this code was to protect the innocent and helpless people also known as, the widows and orphans. The widows and orphans had a very large disadvantage during that time period because they have no one to supply them with food and they can't defend themselves like a father or mother would for them. Hammurabi was the kind of leader that cared about the others that lived in Babylonia.…

In Babylon life was probably hard for the people because they didn’t have as much resources as we do today. The people of Babylon had very strict rules and this was what made it hard the people had too build good houses and make good houses and had too be very careful. It was also hard because Hammurabi’s religion was huge and they all had too follow his beliefs. So they couldn't believe in something different or they would die. In Source C it says if a man breaks another's man's bone his own shall be broke. I think that this is a bad rule what if one man slips bumps into another man and the man falls and breaks his are. Im saying that this rule is not fair. In the document it also says that If any one strike the body of a man higher in rank…
