As a supervisor, there are various things that they do on a daily basis and these tasks are dependent on what position in the management level the supervisor occupies. There are three types of work that a supervisor can do; technical work, human work and conceptual work. There are also three levels on management, supervisor management, middle management and top management and the amount of work done in those three types of work depends on what level in the management ladder the supervisor is.

This type of work is done a lot by top management supervisors. It involves going through various performance reports, accounting figures etc to strategically plan a way forward for the business. Technical work isn't required much at top level management but one common thread that ties all levels of management together is human work or 'good people skills'. The best output of conceptual work is often times produced by someone who knows the business or job inside out. A typical example of such an individual is someone who started out on the front line of the business then made their way to top management.
