Dionysus: A Short Story
One day the god of wine came down to earth and heard about all the shooting in the world. Dionysus flew right back to Olympus and went to Zeus. Dionysus asked Zeus if he can come down to earth and try to stop the shooting. Zeus said,” Yes you may, but please take other gods with you.” Dionysus said, “Thank you, but I could go alone.” “No, you cannot,’’ said Zeus.” Dionysus asked, “ Who may I take then?” “You may take Ares and Hercules,” said Zeus. Then, Dionysus went to go look for Ares and Hercules. Dionysus found them and told about what Zeus said and they flew down to Olympus. They flew down to New York and right when they got there, there was trouble. They saw 4 men running out of a store with weapons and a big bag. Ares yelled, “ Hey you get back here!” Ares …show more content…

Ares said, “ I’m sorry, but we’re immortal, we can’t die. “Yet we could be hurt,” said Dionysus. “Ares we must be more careful,” said Dionysus. The next raid was to steal a car, but steal weapons too. Hercules had the car and was standing there to wait for Dionysus and Ares, but he heard people yelling to go shoot the car. Hercules ran to shield himself, but, where he ran there were terrorists. They were about to take Hercules captive, but then Hercules used his Olympian strength and punched the two terrorists. Hercules ran to find Dionysus and Ares. Hercules yelled, “ Dionysus Ares!” Dionysus and Ares ran to Hercules and used their powers to take down the terrorists. They had taken down multiple bases and had 1 base left. The next day they decided to blow up the base by planting C-4 in each part of the building. The next day they put on their gear and went to the base. They each had to go to the base to put C-4 in each part of the base. They ran into the base and they hid behind one of the aircraft. They each split up to the places to place the C-4. On the way, Dionysus had been ambushed by some of the terrorists. He has cornered with only a bomb and SMG and a

In the play Bacchae, Euripides describes a world filled with hypnotized citizens—Thebes; a world that consists of a god spreading his religious beliefs and views. For instance, Dionysus, the protagonist of the play, is portrayed as a divine god—god of wine, theater, and happiness. This divine god prevents the young King of Thebes—Pentheus, from governing his society. In addition, in order to maintain a successful and stable society; the citizens of a society must obey the laws and its leader. Therefore, one is able to argue that King Pentheus is no longer the King of Thebes—Dionysus is the new king. The citizens, especially the women, in Thebes began to ignore the laws of their society; the moment they began to worship Dionysus—a god who King…

“”Empty fantasies” these myths certainly are not. On the contrary, they contain much more that is real than if they were reporting that which had once occurred”.1 This quote by Walter F. Otto in his book, Dionysus: Myth and Cult, though used for a specific example, articulately and briefly explains why we read myths at all. They tell us not only about the people of the time, but also about ourselves. Through myths we can learn about a culture's values, about why we choose to or not to devote our lives to a religion, and about what these things mean for society as a whole. Miraculously, through myths about people from a different place and time than us, we are able to better understand ourselves here and now.…

Malala Yousafzai said, “We were scared, but our fear was not as strong as our courage.” To some people, courage is seen in everyday acts of bravery. When a person does what seems to be a brave act during a calamity, without proper training, it is not bravery. It. Is. Courage. Courage is doing something that is dangerous and noble, but not irrational. It should also make you a better person, or the world a better place.…

How does one change from a narcissistic creature to one that is patient and caring? That is a question we must ponder as we dwell into the mind of Odysseus, the hero of the epic, the Odyssey. Odysseus is a king lost for twenty years after the Trojan War, used to putting up a fight when it comes to surviving a new land. Imposing his authority over his crew, Odysseus demands “I alone should listen to their song... We must obey the orders as I give them” (lines 727-780). This shows how Odysseus uses his power to manipulate his shipmates into supporting his selfish decisions. After more ill-advised decisions that end up killing all of his shipmates, Odysseus is proclaimed to be a “patient hero” (lines 1328-1331). A fantastic example of dramatic…
