1. Indetify 4 different reasons why people communicate
Communication is essential in our job, as it is the basic of all relationships. We have to be able to communicate with service users to gain information, which will help us provide best service possible.
People choose to communicate for different reasons eg:
- to express needs : service user asking for a cup of tea.
- to share ideas and information : passing essential information to members of staff and also sharing ideas which could improve daily living.
- to socialise: communication plays a big role in socialising with others, it enables us to share common intrests and hobbies, and helps us form new rriendships.
- to express feelings/concerns : it is important to express feelings and concerns as it is part of our nature, we then can focus on how to chnage those feelings or concerns by either askinh the service user or seeking professional opinion from GP.
- to ask questions: helps us understand different situations, it helps us widen our knowledge.
2. Explain how effective communication can affect relationships in adult social care settings.

a) communicating with our colleagues is very important besause it will reflect on how we work as a team. We should always respect our work colleagues and keep all agreements we made. This will enable us to come to work and work with people we trust, respect and can learn from. this will build mutial understanding of our job and will create safe and friendly enviroment to work in. This will also enable everyone to prevent conflicts or misunderstanding, as all kind of information are being shared between care staff, whether it is managers expectations regarding care provided or simply information passes about service users on handover.
