Although the disadvantages of physician-assisted suicide have been well presented, there remains a significant portion of the population that believe physician-assisted suicide is beneficial to the populous. These people, while well intentioned, are extremely ignorant to the true problem at hand, that is, they merely examine the issue at the surface level. Naysayers to this argument will claim that physician-assisted suicide is the compassionate choice and shortens suffering, they only argue based on their emotions and neglect factual evidence. To combat the claim of assisted suicide being the compassionate choice, this claim is incorrect
based on ending life is far less compassionate than supporting, comforting, and nurturing the patient. Furthermore, to address the claim of assisted suicide shortening suffering, when a patient chooses to commit suicide, this choice prevents him or her to heal or recover in any way.
