Like every college in the United States Tabor College has many different programs within that students participate in. Ranging from band, all the different sports, music, fine arts, and computers. The diversity on campus is very noticeable to many people at Tabor. The reason that there is so much diversity is because of the different groups. Students tend to stay within their comfort zone so they don’t want to really socialize with other people afraid that they might not have things in common with them. This happens not only so much all over Tabor College but at every other campus across the United States. There has been many efforts into programs that try to bring the students together and try to have them interact with each other. Tabor College always tries to bring in students from all over the country and the world. There has been students from countries like Spain, Canada, and many others. Looking at me you might wonder what I could possibly understand about diversity – middle class white male, college educated, married with two children, a boy and a girl. These broad generalizations describe me, but they do not define me; just as similar ones about others are equally uninformative. They note apparent features while failing to capture inherent uniqueness. To me, diversity encompasses respect and acceptance, concepts defined by actions taken to recognize and understand individuality, not simple toleration of obvious differences. Although I do not write articles or participate in protests demanding change, I quietly respect the dignity of individuals and value their perspectives. My service in the United States Army has profoundly shaped my attitudes and guided my actions supporting these beliefs.…
