According to Thomas Paine in his book, “Rights of Man”, America is a place of diversity where everyone is different yet we are still equal which is still very true today. America is a place where you can be who you want to be since it is a place where you can be who you are without being unaccepted. While in today’s world this is true, there are still people out there that have their differences creating problems against this. However, we are still as diverse as ever and even with our differences like people who have money and those who are less fortunate as them, we take our differences and we learn from each other to grow as a country.…

In an ideal world, humanity would understand that all mankind is created equally; that the underlying truth of each of us is goodness, and that through awareness, conscious choice and the willingness to create positive change, we could live in a world where diversity is celebrated. We would leave behind the substantial racist and oppressing patterns that exits in this world, specifically in the United States of America. It is said that the U.S. is a melting pot of cultures, and that we are a country of immigrants existing together as a new culture, living under the values of a democracy based on freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In modern America most people live carefree. People in America are free, for the most part, to do whatever they want and have no fear of repercussions of their actions. Of course our modern American society is not perfect there are still people without shelter, discrimination lurking in the shadows and uncalled for violence happens almost everyday in each state. As a whole America represents courage, unity, and strength, however this was not always the case. In the beginning America, while similar in some ways to the present, was a very different place. Many of the foods we eat and enjoy almost every day were not readily available, not all races were not treated as equally as they are now and even they animals and livestock we are used to were not in America in the past.…

Looking at me you might wonder what I could possibly understand about diversity – middle class white male, college educated, married with two children, a boy and a girl. These broad generalizations describe me, but they do not define me; just as similar ones about others are equally uninformative. They note apparent features while failing to capture inherent uniqueness. To me, diversity encompasses respect and acceptance, concepts defined by actions taken to recognize and understand individuality, not simple toleration of obvious differences. Although I do not write articles or participate in protests demanding change, I quietly respect the dignity of individuals and value their perspectives. My service in the United States Army has profoundly shaped my attitudes and guided my actions supporting these beliefs.…

In simple terms, cultural diversity can be defined as the level of diversity or difference in a given society. Societies that display high levels of diversity exhibit many differences across that population. Differences can include skin color, religious affiliation, cultural practices and other ethnic beliefs and customs. Immigration is a major factor in determining the level of diversity that a given society is exposed to. Ever since the dawn of time, humans have traveled the globe in curiosity to interact with other civilizations. These interactions were either well intentioned to share and form partnerships, or militaristic conquests to expand territories and force populations to conform to foreign ideals. These such interactions helped to foster cultural diversity both genetically, as is the case with Attila the Hun, or substantively through the spread of cultural beliefs and practices worldwide.…

An optimistic, spirited, and wise man, Ronald Reagan, once acknowledged, “We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we will always be free.” America is a country deeply rooted in freedom. Liberties are found in the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution. The United States is our homeland where citizens celebrate the blessings of liberation, are united as one in nature and purpose, and come together in agreement that without the American military, our country would not be “... land of the free and the home of the brave.”…

America means diversity. The fact that there is not even an official language, reminds us that this country throughout history has been shaped by immigrants from all over the world. As consequence, diversity lead us to judge and have stereotypes. Like animals, we label consider fellow human beings as non-part of our group. When we think we do not belong to our group, we reject and trend to deny their conditions and human dignity. History is a cruel teacher that shows us how it has come to violent movements such as genocide, deaths, and the extermination of the ones considered different.…
