Obedience training for dogs is the solution if you want your dog to be obedient. You should be sure your dog can obey the command sit for this to work. Instruct your dog to sit and tell your friend to hold him. Walk away while instructing him to stay. Hold up your hand firmly (this act serves a purpose - doing this will make him realize that you want him to stay without saying a word) for a few seconds, have your friend release him and when he runs to you command him to sit. Praise him for following your orders and give with treats. This command does not allow your dog to learn how to stay; it also teaches him to come to you, so don't forget to say "come" to him, not just his name.

There are many more to teach when you study and conduct obedience training for dogs. If you send him to a training school, train him alone or both, you will soon discover that there are more commands you should teach him. Have a lot of patience and consideration.
