The amendment is so controversial that our jurisprudence related to the subject varies on all ends of the spectrum. Many big gun free zones have been attacked by terrorist and many people have died. The most common gun free zones to attack are schools and that is because they have the worst protection. "Eliminating or restricting firearms for public self-defense doesn't make our citizens safer; it makes them targets," political commentator and former US secretary of Education William J. Bennett wrote for CNN after the elementary school massacre. "If we're going to have a national debate about guns, it should be acknowledged that guns, in the hands of qualified and trained individuals subject to background checks, prevent crime and improve public safety" (Jackson). Many people do agree with this because of all the school conflicts. Some people do not think that arming teachers and students to protect themselves from threats is a good idea. The US secretary of education thinks that arming the staff will make children safer, and by denying anyone the right to conceal and carry makes that place a bigger target for brutal attacks because no one can stop it. "At the present time, assailants can, and do, target these students knowing full well that their victims are not permitted to carry protection," Deal said, "even those who are weapons carry license holders, because they are either going to or coming from a campus where no weapons are allowed" (Bluestein). Targeting defenseless people is a coward’s…

However even though the right to bear arms is given to every American it can be revoked, many states have sensible laws that restrict where you can take a firearm and who can own them, and many Americans support these restrictions even though they technically…
