This is an interview with Dr. Paul Offit, who is a prominent advocate for the push to ensure that children receive vaccinations. He explains some of the reasons behind the anti-vaccine movement and then proceeds to offer his counter-arguements. It is worth noting that this is an opinionated source, of course, as Dr. Offit definitely argues for one side of the issue. However, he is also very open with his sources of information as is still a credible and trustworthy source despite his bias.…
Grandmother Fa, Dr. Aaron Glassman, and Harry Sanborn are similar in two noteworthy ways. The first way is that they are all considered to be elders in their respective fictional universes. The second way is that they are all portrayed to be wise and highly respected by the people in their lives - both largely due to their ages. The representation of these characters as being revered and full of wisdom demonstrates the tendency of the media to stereotypically portray elders, whether in a positive or negative way. This propensity can promote prejudicial attitudes towards older adults.…
In this article, Rula Quawas examines how the North and South despite their differences agree on one issue; a woman’s place. Quawes sees this issue as a cult like belief. She compounded ideas of what a man would think true womanhood consisted of in the 19th century. A few ideas was that a woman should have an understanding that the home is where she belongs and the economic world is for the man, the home is the only proper sphere for the female, and have knowledge about the functions as a mother and a wife. It is then seen if a woman does not partake in that belief system, she can simply be treated.…
Dr. Michael Hawes speech was credible because he is a professor of political science, a tireless advocate of international education, and a proud alumnus of the fullbright program. He assumed the leadership of Fulbright Canada in September of 2001 and has had the privilege of directing the program through some very exciting times. He is Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United States of America, Executive Director of the Canada - U.S. Fulbright Program, and Executive Director of the Killam Fellowships Program. Under his direction Fulbright Canada has witnessed dramatic growth in its programs and in the number of students and scholars that the program supports.…
In this chapter we see that Helga doesn’t want to be apart of the school no more so she tells Margaret Creighton an English teacher that she is leaving the school. Helga wanted to leave her successful career as a teacher because she does not like the hopelessness of her teaching, where the education system for black people is very bad, and the way in which her school has become a place where the system is made to turn black children into white and to not act like black people. Everything is done without freedom, and she knows the students' true natures are being overpowered. She has made a decision that she is not for teaching in this society where she feels like young kids are told not to act like black people. Where unfair educational system is visible throughout the school, where you are not allowed to be yourself.…
My purpose this week was to observe translations in the 3rd grade classroom at Moss elementary with a female teacher named Ms. Bowens. As i arrive to Ms. Bowens classroom i noticed the 3rd grade students knew how to work on the math problems on their own while the teacher allows the students to talk amongst their assigned group. As the students work on their assignment the teacher walks around the classroom helping the students that doesn't understand a question by going to each group.…

These health problems, of course, include problems in mental health just as much as physical. Multiple studies have shown that obesity can be both a result and a cause of a variety of mental disorders, especially in young women. Dr. Susan L. Mcelroy found in her article “Are Mood Disorders and Obesity Related? A Review for the Mental Health Professional” for The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry not only that children and adolescents with disorders such as Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder were more likely to be overweight, but also that they were at a higher risk of becoming overweight due to symptoms of their mental disorders and side effects of their medication. She also discovered that females who exhibited atypical depression…
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend class today because I was feeling under the weather. I was curious to see if I could make up the participation quiz that was given out today. If not, I totally understand. I jus thought I would ask.…
I aspire to be a great addition to your student population. My exposure to different cultures has taught me a lot about the value and essential goodness of diversity. Through the changing environments that I have experienced, as well as changing circumstances, I am still able to excel and be a good academic student. I am able to push through with my goals and aspirations.…

Finally, her level of professionalism is magnificent. I find it extra impressive because she has a lot of academic problems to discuss and yet she is very careful not to cross that line. She says out loud what she is aloud to say, and keeps to herself of keeps to private conversation with the student what needs to be kept to a private conversation. That is where her leadership and collaboration come into play as well.…
