Drunk driving
Driving under the influence may not seem like a big ordeal to teens but in reality it should be taken more cautiously. When being in control of a running vehicle, driving drunk can have an effect on your mental and physical ability. This is where the problem goes unnoticed because many teens now a days think that they have the capability to hold their liquor and proceed on driving. What teens need to realize is that receiving a driver’s license is a privilege that should not be taken advantage of. First off I want to start off by stating that I am a teenager and it can be a difficult world to overcome. There is always some type of peer pressure coming your way to try and persuade you into either getting drunk or even worse drugs mixed with alcohol. However, did you know that almost half of all drivers who were killed in crashes tested positive for drugs but with also alcohol in their system? If you didn’t, well now you do. Also, teens are four times more likely to die or be injured in a car crash than older people. That means, that you have a greater risk at getting in collisions just being sober, so imagine the probability with alcohol in your system. If your friends really cared about your well-being they wouldn’t persuade you into getting involved into something that could either cause injuries or even death. Don’t be afraid to say no, because maybe saying no those many times could save your life. Many parents are becoming more aware of this issue because no responsible adult wants to see anyone hurt, let alone their own child. Teens should start reading up and educating themselves more on the matter of what the consequences consist of instead thinking about all the fun they will be having. Being drunk, doesn’t just lead to drunk driving it can also lead to date rapes, dangerous fights, and can slow down your reaction time which decreases your rate into avoiding unsafe situations. Some teenagers believe that their friends will take care of them or

Teenagers often view themselves as invincible. They are often in denial when it comes to being too intoxicated to drive. "Intoxication implies a loss of motor control, judgment ability, and reduced inhibition that can easily occur in adolescents with the intake of even a relatively small amount of alcohol" (Holger et al. 1). Unfortunately, many make the decision to get behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated. As a result, "Driving under the influence has become the leading cause of death for young adults, aged fifteen to twenty-four years" (American Academy of Pediatrics 2).…

At eighteen it is illegal to buy alcohol and if you are a daily drinker how else would people be able to get that same feeling if you were drunk. Teens could begin to become frustrated and need a back-up. Drugs such as marijuana, heroin is both illegal but yet people still use them as if they were legal. There is not an age limit for buying drugs. As a young teen under the influence of alcohol they have no control in what they do. So drinking with a group of friends may lead to an act of them doing drugs they have been doing in the past to a new alcoholic that’s a teen wants to try. Now days it becomes worse because they populations has grown an more teens are following the wrong foot steps in the wrong path and takes them off track an before they know it it will be too late and they have come addicted to using a drug that never occurred to them until alcohol was brought to the picture. Just thinking of using alcohol or drugs to solve problems that have other ways around it is just not the way to go. So do not make the choice to start drinking because it will get very much out of hand before even noticed and may lead to many more dangerous stunts and accidents that we do not want to come across in the…

Teens like to drink so they can be in a different world and forget all their problems in life. Their peers also pressure them to party and have fun and drink. Studies show that teen drinking and driving and alcohol abuse is on the rise. My plan is to raise awareness of the issue of teen drinking and how communication between parents and teens can reduce the incidence of adolescent alcohol abuse and drunk driving related deaths. Parental awareness and involvement is essential to keeping teens safe. Parents need to teach their children how to keep safe in situations involving alcohol. Share with them the risks and give them some facts that inform them to take responsible actions instead of actions that could harm themselves or other people. Parents need to be there for their teens, especially if you see that they need help. Underage drinking can have serious consequences. You can protect your children from the risks associated with drinking by maintaining open communication and expressing a clear, consistent message about alcohol. Building a close relationship with your kids will make it easier for them to come to you for help in making decisions that impact their health and well-being. Parents need to keep tabs on where their child goes and offer them their assistance such as driving them home from a party if they drank too much to drive themselves home. Studies show adolescents whose parents closely monitor their activities are less likely to use alcohol or to be in risky situations involving alcohol. If they were scared of the situation like people getting so drunk that they are being wild and dangerous to the people around them at a party. Also, parents should set good examples for their kids so they learn what to do in that situation and they need help. If one parent is a heavy drinker, the child 's chances of becoming a heavy drinker increase by two or three times more than if the…

Because decision-making abilities are clouded and an adolescent has not reached full maturity, drunk driving accidents are more common. As a drinking teenager who may not want to be reprimanded by their parents or guardians, they may find themselves driving home drunk due to fear of calling for a ride. It can be argued that if alcohol consumption was legalized at a younger age there would be less drunk driving due to less fear of becoming…

What is the biggest concern for teen driving? Drunk driving is the biggest concern for teens because they don't think about what can happen to them when driving a car under the influence. Studies have shown that there is a proven link between alcohol and crashes. According to Ryan Bilstein, “Decades of studies have proven a link between alcohol and the crashes that led to thousands of deaths every year, particularly among youths” ( Bilstein). These studies show that youths are usually the victims of drunk driving. Awareness programs should be free to any student who wants to know their limits, which will help cut down the number of deaths.…

“…31.2% among persons aged 18 to 20, and peaked among person 21 to 25 at 45.4%” (Harris 130). Teens aged eighteen to twenty are less likely to be involved with alcohol, however, lowering the drinking age would increase the percentage of young drinkers. The chances of a teenager being able to drive to any store, including stores that are specifically designed to sell alcoholic beverages, would increase. This increase would also cause more accidents if the teen was already intoxicated or drove a vehicle while drinking. More intoxicated drivers on the road can lead to fatal accidents that can alter the lives of many individuals. Some individuals do not realize the risks of driving while…

Consumption of alcohol in the United States for any individual under the age of twenty-one is illegal. Even though it is illegal for teenagers to consume alcohol this does not stop teenagers all across the United States from drinking. Even worse is that some of the teenagers will drink alcohol and then will attempt to drive. Driving under the influence of alcohol is dangerous for any one to attempt, and is even more dangerous for teenage drivers. Driving under the influence of alcohol greatly increases the chance of a person being in an accident, and this attempt can be fatal to the driver, passengers, other drivers, and innocent civilians. If someone you know who does get drunk have them call someone they can trust to come get them, or take them yourself only if you have not been drinking. The same goes for any teenager who decides to get drunk they should call their parents or someone they trust to come get them instead of attempting to drive. Maybe because a teenager called their parents instead of attempting to drive they will get in trouble, but this could safe their life or a friend's life.…
