However, Lear is devoted to community service and supports United Way (Lear.com, n.d.) and numerous initiatives that include extensive mentoring and programs. While much of this service is focused on Detroit, there is a similar attention globally in each region. Giving back is an absolute requirement for leaders who work at Lear, an initiative that is admirable. While Lear’s form of giving back is not necessarily a Christian viewpoint or perspective, it is decidedly Christian if one considers that being Christian means we continually choose to do our best to serve our fellow man. The Bible, in Peter 1 4:9 teaches us to “open our homes to each other without complaining” (The New Catholic Study Bible St. Jerome Edition) and Lear personifies and fosters this kind of culture and dedication to one’s community.
