32 “Well its actually happening ma’, I’m goin’ back to school.”Rufus said. “I want you to know, I truly am proud of you Rufus.” His mother replied. Curtis and Janet went to a different school then Rufus but he still walked them to school then walked himself to school. On his way to school a car followed him very slowly but Rufus kept walking. When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. But he didn’t have a car? Rufus ran to the office to explain the…

E4 - There are many theorists who have contributed to the body of knowledge relating to how children play and learn. The one I am choosing to write about is Friedrich Froebel. He met Anton Gruner, which inspired him to start teaching. He put his theories into practice in 1818 then founded his first children’s garden in 1837. Where he said that there should be lots of sensory and first hand activates in nature, music and arts. This is used in my setting as they have a vegetable patch and each week a small group of children go out and do gardening. This encourages children to touch different texture. My setting turns this into an activity where they have to use expressions about what they are doing. He was the first theorist to write about the importance of play. He was a very strong believer in play to improve a child education. He also believed that play raised enjoyment and emotional wellbeing. So each child should…

This impact the child to be able to progress through stages so that they stay engaged as the activities don’t get too hard and they lose interest. Therefore to enrich the child’s development using new resources will impact them in all areas as they learn new language for example cooking something different and using different ingredients, while they can socialise by cooking in groups by reading recipes, cognitively remembering the ingredients while emotionally they can feel happy by working with friends and learning new skills in which they would be praised for with stickers etc. Therefore these impacts children through purposeful play as they are able to work together in groups and support all of their five areas of develop and progress in all these areas. While to extend the activity the child could work in smaller groups for them to be able to progress in working in different situations where they would have more of a…

In this assignment I plan to explain how play helps to improve the development of children and young people. Play is extremely important for the development of children. It is important that from a young age children play with things like toys and even with other children. Between the ages of 0 – 3 is when children develop the most. Through play children can improve their fine and gross motor skills by using toys such as shape sorters and using musical tables which have buttons and things to turn. This helps to develop fine motor skills. Gross motor skills are developed through crawling and learning to walk. If children have toys that are spread out whilst playing then it will encourage them to either crawl or try to walk to retrieve the toys that they want to play with. It is important that also at this age that children start to use cutlery, for example being given a spoon as a baby so that they can learn to feed themselves, and this also helps to develop their fine motor skills. Also playing with toys such as shape sorters can also help with intellectual development as children begin to become more aware of which shape is which, They may not know what they are called but they begin to recognise a pattern in the shapes and which hole they need to sort them into. Also this is a good toy to use as parents can praise their child and this will improve their self-esteem. It is also important at this age for children to play with other children as this will teach them to share and also they will learn to manage their own feelings as parents cannot always be there to remind children to share so the child will have to figure it out on their own sometimes in situations such as play groups. Also play can help children to learn to interact with other children. This develops their social development by them being able to make friends. Also this can develop their language and communication…

Knowledge is bred from desire and thrives in the mind of an individual who possesses the aspiration to learn why something happens or how it takes place. It is commonly stated that we humans only use twenty percent of our brain’s , but in all reality the human race is at fault for our incapacity to open up and ideally use the rest of our brain as a resource in addition to what is already utilized. This is due to the way in which society approaches education, or the act of imparting knowledge. In several instances, the works The Banking Concept of Education by Paul Freire and O Americano Outra Vez by Richard Feynman portray their opinions’ on how education affects how accomplished we really are as a people and how different…

I believe that children can and do learn a variety of different skills while playing and because of this I also believe that play and learning go hand and hand. Play is the serious business of young children and the opportunity to play freely is vital to their healthy development. I believe that there are also a good deal of different benefits that children gain from play like, play fosters physical development by promoting the development of sensory exploration and motor skills. Through play and the repetition of basic physical skills, children perfect their abilities and become competent at increasingly difficult physical tasks. Play fosters mental development and new ways of thinking and problem solving. Through block play, children are…

This intervention is an appropriate intervention to apply to children who are experiencing stress and anxiety. For example, a therapist is presented with a child who recently became an older sister. The new baby brother has caused some anger within the client as she expresses aggressive behavior towards her mother, father, and brother. Although it is a common reaction among children who were only-children, the child is expressing feelings of abandonment and fear that her parents don’t love her as much as they once did. When the therapist implements this intervention, it allows the child to feel attended, safe, and accepted by the therapist. Through art, the child is able to visually recognize those individuals who make her feel loved, which in return, will help alleviate her fears and anxieties. By combining the play intervention and the therapist’s implementation of the concepts within the theory, the child’s presenting problem will improve.…

Play is the foundation for learning, because it nourishes every aspect of children’s development. Before a child can even mentally grasp what is being taught at school, he/she must develop cognitive skills through the process of creative play and the use of his/her imagination. Even though people think otherwise, and argue against this, play is considered to be a necessary tool for a child’s growth. Thus, it is what sets the stage for cognitive, intellectual, social, and physical development.…

Play is an essential part of every child's life and is vital for the enjoyment of childhood as well as social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. Though play children learn about themselves and the world that surrounds them. They also learn to express themselves and form relationships with others. Play in early childhood education is not considered as a kind of fun activity where children spend their energy on some sorts of physical activities. Play is much more meaningful than that. There is a guideline for early childhood education in Australia called Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) which has been recognized and implied by many educators. The EYLF emphasizes the importance of children’s learning, especially for young children from birth to five years old by introducing the term “play-based leaning” and drawing a range of learning outcomes for young children to achieve through their first five years.…
