Egg Drop Project
May 5, 2014
Its a very well know fact that eggs are very weak and it doesn't take much for them to break. Just ask me, mine cracked when we dropped it from the bleachers. Then broke when we dropped it from six feet. My grouped used two plastic bags, some rubber bands, pop sickle sticks, and cotton balls these materials were not effective in this project though.
So the original project was to create a vehicle that will protect the egg from breaking when we drop it. Which my group failed to do so. We should not have used the plastic bags because they are useless. The only time the plastic bags were effective was the higher you dropped the egg because the plastic bags would act as parachute and …show more content…
So when we dropped the egg from the top of the bleachers it took about 1.3 seconds to hit the ground and it had less force acting on. But when we dropped the egg with the plastic bags from six feet. They did nothing because the plastic bags had no time to catch air and slow the egg down. Therefore the egg took a full blow when it hit the ground. Needless to say you did not need the plastic bags on your vehicle. Then we had cotton balls all around the egg because our group thought this would absorb all the energy and force from the ground and protect the egg. But we found out the hard way that cotton ball just don't cut it. They allowed more force on the egg than what we expected and the egg broke when it hit the ground. Then we had pop sickle sticks on our vehicle. We used these pop sickle sticks as landing gear air plane wheels. This actually worked really well on our vehicle but we had a difficult time making it land on the pop sickle sticks. If we could
