Election speech

Hello my fellow democrats! We as Canadians were told too many false promises in the past. We were promised less pollution, a healthier planet, yet “your money is being used to subsidize big polluters”. We were promised more peace; we want our troops home, yet as soon as your sons and daughters come back from Afghanistan their taking the first flight to Isis. Canada is ready for a change, and I'm ready to be your change! I am committed to you Canadians; I will listen and act upon your requests. Your voices will be heard! Our democratic party is realistic, so you’ll know we’ll deliver, we can assure you we won’t fall sort. Our plan is to work on a low tax plan for jobs. This will “encourage economic activity, increasing revenues for the government”, this will sustain economical choices for Canadians. One of our platforms is “your children, Canada’s future”. If you elect us, we will fund anti drug programs. “Teens who consistently learn about the risks of drugs from their parents are up to 55% less likely to use drugs. Last year alone 47,000 Canadian deaths were linked to substance/ drug abuse. 60% of illicit drug users in Canada are between the ages of 15 and 24”. These numbers will only get higher without our help, your children ARE Canada’s future, the wing party will make sure that the future starts today! Thirdly job creation is one of the top priorities of the wing party.” To tackle youth unemployment, we would double the number of companies involved in PAYE — Partnership to Advance Youth Employment — a joint city-private sector program that links disadvantaged youth with employers. This would result in “thousands” of new jobs for youth in his first term”. We would also “eliminate the federal capital tax and the corporate surtax, to encourage businesses to invest, expand, and hire more workers”. We aren’t running for power, were running to strengthen Canada and move forward today! Elect the wing party and the economy will soar!

In many respects, Canada has become something of a Mecca for liberal welfare regimes. Instead this politico-economic myth portraying Canada as the sensible middle ground for universality and solidarity is a rather ill informed characterization of its liberal regime, particularly during the post war years. And so, the post war era called for welfare state restructuring inspired by neoliberal views of the proper relationship of states, markets and citizens followed by the erosion of forms of social citizenship implying cuts and changes in social program structures.…

The Liberals said that they would spend $1.7 billion over three years to support energy-saving programs under the Green Ontario Fund. Not only does the Green Ontario Fund allow citizens to fight climate change, but it also helps them save money by reducing energy costs. The Liberals are setting a good example for Ontarians because at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if we have a strong economy or universal healthcare, if there is no home for us to live in. Furthermore, the Liberals plan to make daycare free for children aged 2-and-a-half until they are eligible for kindergarten. This move is part of a $2.2-billion investment to expand access to licensed childcare for families.…

    Obama Victory Speech 2008

    • 1046 Words

In Obama’s speech, he uses many inclusive pronouns such as ‘we’ and ‘our’. This shows that they are all the same; by doing this it creates a sense of unity among the audience. This is effective because it gets the audience on his side; if he used exclusive pronouns such as ‘you’, it would make the audience feel less united. He also says ‘America can change’, by doing this he personifies and metonymies ‘America’. This is effective as it makes the people think about what he means by ‘America’ in that context, he could have easily said the ‘people of America’ but that would be very dull. We also see here again that he uses ‘America’ in a united sense. This all links in with the semantic field of the speech, of ‘the American Dream’, which is all based on peace and unity among the people of America. Another technique Obama uses are exophoric references and anecdotes, such as “She’s a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voices heard in this election except for one thing – Ann Nixon cooper is 106 years old.”This is effective in the speech as help explain the point Obama makes to the audience. It is also something the audience can relate to .He also waits until right at the end to say “Ann Nixon cooper is 106 years old,” this turns a sentence about someone ordinary into someone extraordinary. Apart from the general references he makes, there are also very famous ones, such as ‘A man touched down on the moon’ and ‘a preacher told a people ‘We shall overcome.’” He uses these exophoric references effectively, to remind the audience about the situations they have overcome, which inspires them. Also, when he makes these references, he doesn’t clearly state the event but vaguely describes it. He does this to make the audience think about what he is saying, but at the same time not to undermine them by being…

To my fellow students, to my worthy, Mr. Moderator and to the board of Judges, ladies and gentleman a pleasant morning. I am the second speaker of the affirmative who strongly believe on the proposition “ Resolved that K-12 Education system be abolished” based on the following contentions to wit: First, K-12 curriculum is a proposal of government that would add two more years to the secondary or High School level. So therefore, we have 6 years in grade school and another 6 years on high school. K-12 education system implemented in our country is a bad idea for me. There are too many glaring factors and reasons on why this is a bad idea at this time. First, Poverty.…
