1) Joanna’s diagnosis of the situation is that the department was fairly inefficient. The workload was not spread equally and fairly. Magdalena and the new workers had tons of paperwork, while the clique had time to socialize and not to do work. Moreover, Sam and Jose never reviewed the work done by the department; they were only focused on case histories. The employees knew very little about the department and couldn’t really explain the purpose of their job. Therefore, the morale was also low and this resulted in inefficiency.…
Her patience is never-ending. Lindy is the primary Human Resource Generalist for the Engine, Materials and Quality Departments with well over 100 employees. Her patience and ability to have an accurate pulse of the employees is incredible. There are many occasions where she can predict an issue, before it actually occurs. Melinda also plans all local and corporate employee events. This includes quarterly employee meetings, family day, benefit meetings, code of conduct training and united way campaigns. In the past two years she planned, organized and executed two family day outings that included well over 600 employees and family members and she advertised and organize the United Way Campaigns in which Mayfield is always one of the leading companies in PRS in not only donations but also in participation rate. The first thing I would so examine the problem to see what area we need to focus on first. After we figure out the issue I will put together a team of different people for different tasks. My team will be picked by the specific help they can bring to the issue. I will choose a debate team with a strong mind frame and an also they will the ability to bring about issues to each other in a business manner. If they have an issue with another person request to fix the problem, they can address them in a way that is not disrespectful or biased. They will all be considered equal. The way I will promote effective teamwork is by group communication. I will have group meetings forth so when a person wants to relay a issue to another person they will do it in front of the group so everyone can help out the problem. If the person wishes to do the confrontation in private, I will have mediation so they can fix the problem together. My main issue is to enforce teamwork. With this method we will conquer the problem as a team. No one will feel inferior or below the next…
Kelly should tell Barbara that she saw that something bad had happened to Barbara. She must tell Barbara, that she must inform manager about it.…
My first step would be to gather information about the department to find out why we are having these problems. I would call a department meeting to introduce myself and to hand out questionnaire to each employee. The questionnaire would ask them to briefly tell me about themselves, their position with the company, what they like and dislike about their position, and their thoughts on how we can improve in our department. Once I collect the questionnaire back I would create a presentation that would include a graph and some of their responds which they will remain completely anonymous. I would present this information to my managers to discuss how we can promote change; once everything gets approve I will then present the information to my…
Barbara Tucker works for Ballard Integrated Managed Services, Inc. and her position is the general manager of Douglas Medical Center (DMC). Tucker’s duties are to oversee three division managers responsible for the food service, hospitality, and maintenance divisions at DMC. The total of staff at BIMS is 452 workers. The turnover rate because of low-skill nature of the positions, is usually 55% to 60% (which is common for the industry) at DMC. In the last four months the turnover rate has increased to 64%, causing an increase in turnovers, costs, an increase of sick time, workers wasting time in the day, work quality has declined, and complaints…
I believe that Joanna should recommend that Sam Wilson reorganize and restructure the department as a whole. They should assign roles to each individual depending on their job description, to avoid the problem of having some people doing more work than others. Also, the top management has to involve the department in decision making and engaging them in giving ideas and enhancing their services. For example, setting weekly or quarterly goals and trying to meet them. This step also allows the organization to evaluate themselves and knowing how they’re doing. The more the workers get involved in the strategic part of planning, the more they feel obliged to meet those goals and the more they feel loyal to the organization.…
Sarah Dowling- It is our goal as a team to work collaboratively to ensure all members’ thoughts, ideas, and input are shared, discussed, considered, and incorporated into the learning team assignments and projects. It is people’s duty to be accountable for his or her individual portion of the project and to strive to do their personal best. As a group we will seek out opportunities within each other’s strengths to improve our quality of work and assist those team members who may struggle to do so. In the event disagreement occurs between cohorts in regards to any one idea, including but not limited to: substance, quality, or timeline of work submitted, team members will vote to decide if the individual/ idea will continue to work with the group or project. Each member must be committed to the team’s academic achievement and success.…
In this case Debbie, the sales supervisor, held a meeting for the four basic meeting purposes, give information, exchange information, find facts and solve problems (296-297) using the leader-controlled approach(p.297). During the first half of the meeting Debbie discussed last week’s performance. After discussing it she asked if there were any questions, no response. The second half of the meeting Debbie discussed the new schedule for calls, once again no response no ideas. The overall problem Debbie is having is the non-responsiveness from her sales department during meetings.…

Yes, I would do the same thing as Amanda did. To become an effective leader you must know everything that you need to consider as a supervisor to be able to do that you also need to seek help for others and in Amanda case, because Amanda is not prepared for the position she needs to seek for the help of others especially help from the professionals that can guide her to be an effective superior.…
