Lacy Elementary school is a public school, serving over its capacity that is 500. 650 students are getting the education in the 60-year old building that is located in an urban district. The school is receiving federal aid for the lunch and breakfast programs. Thirty-percent of the student population use buses to come to the school every day. The Lacy elementary school has before and after school programs that are run by the school’s PTA volunteers and paraprofessionals.
Student Characteristics, Issues, and Factors
Lacy Elementary school’s cafeteria has foldable tables with attached 300 seats. In the observation 1, the students use two different entrances for the breakfast, which is served at 7:30 a.m. Guiding students to use different entrances does not cause traffic congestion at the doors. During the breakfast, students mostly demonstrate positive behaviors. They work on their homework while eating breakfast and throw away trash before leave.

The school administration should create a school cafeteria rules with clear expectations and effective consequences. Every student should be agreed upon the rules, and taught the rules related to the cafeteria. The consequences should be applied consistently and fairly when the rules are broken. In addition, incentives should be given to students who demonstrate appropriate behaviors. Students who behave appropriately in the cafeteria should be called and recognized by the PTA parents, the paraprofessionals, and the administrators.
