Musk secured contracts with both The Chicago Tribune and The New York Times would set the standard for many business deals to come. After Zip2's success, in March of 1999 Musk co-founded X.com. X.com was a revolutionary online financial services and email payment company. The company was later re-named PayPal. PayPal's early success was credited directly to Musk, who spent hours and days formulating and implementing viral growth campaigns. He called it Space Exploration Technologies or SpaceX for short.

SpaceX was a perfect playground for Musk to show the world he was not just in the business of developing and manufacturing space vehicles, but that he also had an interest in furthering the human race. "We must expand life beyond this green and blue ball-or go extinct". Elon Musk decided to do something about it, and made SpaceX to develop and manufacture space vehicles with an emphasis on advancing space technologies. Musk noted that cost is this sector's greatest challenge, and vigorously attacked the idea of bringing the cost of space flight down low enough to make for-fare space travel

SolarCity aims to free consumers from the electricity companies by installing solar fixtures on their homes. "We will offer completely free installation, free equipment, and a lower monthly bill than anyone is paying now for electricity. Human's ability to harness the sun's enormous amount of energy will ensure our sustainable existence", Musk said. It is not coincidental that his car company's products consume the same energy his power company provides. If SolarCity expands like Elon Musk plans, solar energy will be the way of life in just about eighteen

Throughout human history we have used stories to convey important messages. Stories not only grab our attention and entertain us but inspire us to act. One of the examples of the use of stories in “Made to Stick” is the Subway tale of Jared. In the 90’s Subway used a true and unique story about a young man, who was dangerously over weight, lost over 100 pounds in just three months by eating at Subway. This story had a huge impact on many people and put Subway back on the map. Many people could relate to Jared’s story and were inspired to eat healthier. I believe the story of Elon Musk is inspiring and that through human innovation anything is possible. In 2009 things were not looking good for American car companies, many of which were completely shut down to cut costs. During that same year Bob Lutz of GM said Tesla would never compete effectively as a car company because nobody really wanted and electric car especially at that price. That year Tesla sold 100% of its production and opened a second…

Consumers and companies are looking to save at the pump, and what better way to do so than with electric vehicles (Mora 2014, 1)?
