Employee Onboarding According to Bauer, after employee selection, the most important ways that organization can improve the effectiveness of their talent management systems is through the strategic use of onboarding. Employee Onboarding is the process of assisting new hires adjust to social and performance aspects of their new jobs. The process can consist of providing organization information, training, mentoring and coaching. This process can take up to six to twelve months of employment. (Bauer, 2010)
I currently work for the United States Department of Agriculture for Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) for two and half years. Their onboarding process last for twelve months from the start of accepting the employment offer. The process start before the first day of employment and last until your one year anniversary. The process is broken up to seven parts. (Mazer)

One of the things that I found to be wrong with onboarding process when I hired in 2012 was the overwhelming amount of paperwork during orientation and the weeks and months to follow. If OCIO would include paperwork from Part II, III and IV into the Welcome Package it would take away from employee time on completing a meeting HR suspense. For example, the enrollment package for Health, Dental, Vision Long Term Care, Flexible Spending Account and Thrift Saving Plan should be included with the Welcome Package. This would allow the new employee time to determine the package that suit him/her or their
