Symbol: The Mirror in the Mind Game
The mirror in Ender’s dreams is one the elements which appears in the mind game which Ender occasionally plays throughout the novel. When he first encounter’s the mirror Peter’s image appears on the glass which symbolizes that a part of Ender will always be Peter. Ender is scared and thinks that he is just like Peter, who is violent and cruel. However, in Ender’s later encounters with the mind game, the snake which represented Peter turns to Valentine proving that Ender is not all violent and cruel like Ender. “Two faces of the same coin….The problem with coins is when one side is up the other side is down.” ( 276 )
The idiom two faces/sides of the same coin represent the fact that Ender and Peter are connected despite the differences they may have. The quote explains that in order to succeed and be content Ender must accept that Peter and his personality will always be a part of who he is but he must not let that control him. Ender must find the balance in order to have peace with himself and overcome the obstacles he faces throughout his journey.

In the quote, Ender believes that he is a ruthless killer. The author's vicious tone while describing Ender's actions is used to portray the violent side of Ender. The quote shows that a part of Ender is the savage just like Peter. However, at this point, Ender has not admitted that he has done some bad things in the past, and can not find happiness and peace.
Theme
Accepting who you are is a significant theme in the book Ender’s game. Ender is not able to find peace because he does not admit who he is for some time in the novel. He fears that he is a killer like his brother who he despises. However, as Ender continues his training he learns that a part of him is his brother's ferocious nature, and he is finally able to find peace with himself. He must use this personality trait to his advantage to help him with the obstacles he faces later.
In the real world, self-acceptance helps you realize your strengths and weaknesses. When you accept that you have flaws, then you are able to work on them and possibly get rid of them. However, denying the fact that you may have flaws does not help you, and you will never be able to fix what problems you may have.
As can be seen, accepting who you are will make you more a more confident and proud
