To Ronald Reagan, leadership means “to grasp and hold a vision”. “The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.” (Ronald Reagan). Reagan is the most influential leader in my life. He is most like me, also. I am a democratic leader. According to the results, it says: “your primary mode of living is focused externally, where you take things in primarily via your intuition. Your secondary mode is internal, where you deal with things rationally and logically.”(Myers Briggs) I am a logical person, i stay thinking about the realistic side of the problem. I agree with these results.
The last survey i took was the leadership orientation survey. It determines if you are a task or people oriented leader. I found that i was more of a task oriented leader. being a task oriented leader means you stay focused on getting the job done. You want to finish it and do it right. this result has relation to the results from Myers briggs, where it said i was logistic. being logistic is a huge part of being a task oriented leader. you have to think realistically when completing tasks to the best of your ability. From the dawn of time to the end of the world as humanity knows it, where there is sentience, there will always be leaders. In Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game, leadership is displayed by numerous characters, children, and adults, almost all of which displayed some forms of eloquence, empathy, and organization. Eloquence is needed for a leader to secure the trust and loyalty of their followers, after all, would one follow a leader they could not trust? In order to be on the cutting edge of strategy and innovation, one must be empathetic and able to understand the desires of both their peers and their enemies. To maintain leadership, a leader has to be organized, each of their decisions must be calculated, their resources should be set out in front of them for them to know all of their options at any time.…

A dictionary definition of a leader is a guiding hand in a movement or group. My definition of a leader is someone who stands out amongst the rest and steps up to the task and helps the “followers” advance and strive to become a leader as well. The only way a leader can be effective is by leading by example. A prime example of this is Malala Yousafzai. She was shot in the face for trying to go to school. If she hadn’t gone to school she wouldn’t have been shot, but she also wouldn’t have a Nobel Peace prize. She is now using her story to speak for access to education for everyone. A leader is someone who leads by example and uses their skills to help others succeed.…

Some look at leadership as the ability to lead. I agree 100% with leadership being the ability to lead, but in order to have the ability to lead you have to have more. There has to be a process of social leadership in which a person is able to aid and support others in their accomplishment when it comes to a specific task; this is a process of social influence on someone. Paying attention to how leaders carry themselves and interact with others socially giving guidance and being helpful. Leadership is also organizing a group or team of people to achieve a common goal and sometimes the leader may not have formal authority, but they are leading/guiding the group or team in accomplishing the goal.…

A leader is a person who represents the whole class and motivate them. I did not believe I was a leader. During my freshman and sophomore year of high school, I was a quiet spoken individual who listens to what others have to say. It was not that I did not have anything to say, but it was the fear of saying something wrong and others disregarding what I had to say. I did several presentations in high school that made speaking in front of people more easier. However, I was still the timid person who wanted desperately to break my shell but did not know how. A shocking moment had occurred when I had became secretary of Zonta Club. It was junior year and I was surprised to have been part of the leadership team. I was able to discuss my ideas and to speak with the members at ease. It was my breaking point. I was given a privilege to be part of something that made a change. I was not just the soft spoken person, but I was a leader…

The movie “The Last Castle” provides examples of good leadership and bad leadership. Colonel Winter, the warden of a military is the example of bad leadership, while General Irwin, a prisoner at Winter’s prison is an example of good leadership. The film illustrates that a leader does not have to have a technical leadership position to gain followers, and how two leaders who have differing viewpoints on leadership cannot exist in the same space without conflict.…
