So Mazer teaches Ender how to understand his enemies and that is one of the causes of Enders success as leader. “I am your Enemy, The first one that is smarter than you. There is no teacher but the enemy, no one but the enemy will tell you what the enemy is going to do. No one but the enemy will tell you how to destroy and conquer”(263). When Mazer Rackham says this he teaches Ender that he was to look past the enemy and understand them so he can then predict every single move. This proves Mazer strongly believes in Enders success because he wants Ender to think of him as a bad guy even though he is not. Mazer Rackham Teaches Ender that there is no point in wasting time in trying to be happy because he does not choose when to be happy and this leads to Ender focusing and eventually being the leader that he is now. “I am not a happy Man Ender, Humanity does not want us to be happy it merely wants us to be brilliant on its behalf survival first then happiness”(277). When Mazer Rackham says this he is trying to teach Ender not to waste time on being happy because happiness comes and goes and he cannot control that so he teaches him not to waste time and stay focused and he does and in the end becomes a successful…
