It is a great profession. There is the fascination of watching a figment of the imagination emerge through the aid of science to a plan on paper. Then it moves to realization in stone or metal or energy. Then it brings jobs and homes to men. Then it elevates the standards of living and ads to the comforts of life. That is the engineer's high privilege.
My interest in these areas was first aroused during my undergraduate studies at the University of Iasi where I studied Mechanical Engineering and I chose to do a final year research topic on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems. During my research I sourced documents relating to medical equipment and my interest was further aroused when reading about Fabrication Issues of Biomedical Micro Devices.
The successful development and introduction of more advanced technologies in health care will have a great impact on the living quality of patients, and significantly lower the total cost of medical treatment.
