Although this semester is focused on writing, it is still imperative that you build on your independent reading abilities. Strong writers create strong readers; strong readers form strong writers. The skills are linked! In addition, reading is a skill which you cannot afford to ignore. If you’re a good reader, chances for your success in the future are high, no matter what you do. Select a character from your novel. This can be the main character but does not have to be. It should be a character whom you either really like, really understand, and/or really relate to. Create a scrapbook or collage for the character, cutting out pictures from magazines or drawing the mementos he or she would have in the scrapbook. Your scrapbook must contain at least eight mementos, but may include more.
On a separate sheet, write one short paragraph explanation of each memento. Name the memento, then write your brief paragraph which explains why this item belongs in the character’s scrapbook.
If you decide to create a scrapbook, it must include at least five pages front and back. If you decide to create a collage, it must be on a medium-sized poster board. You have creative license when it comes to book and memento format.
Memento ideas: concert tickets, photos, favorite foods, favorite poems, brochures, notes, friendship bracelets, candy wrappers

The text convo must be typed. You must include at least ten texts for each character (20 total), but you have creative control besides that. You may include more than 20 if you’d like.
On a separate sheet, explain the text conversation and compare it to the event in the story. Your explanation must answer the following questions: Why would the characters text these things? How is the text conversation different from what happened in the story? If this text conversation were how it really happened in the story, how would the event have been different? Your explanation should include at least four full paragraphs.
**NOTE: Using text lingo in the texts themselves is acceptable; although it should not be used exclusively. Your paragraph exlplanations, however, may NOT include text lingo. These must be formal
