Some of these traits that have been given to me due to being involved in extracurriculars have improved my personal development and can prove to be useful in the future whether it be at college or the workplace. Some of these include working well with others, time management, and will to want to be better.…

Many students do extracurricular activities, and they devote a lot of time to these activities. However, as shown by both Alfie Kohn, a school principal, the current amount of homework assigned is enough so that the average student without extracurricular activities complain about being sleep deprived. Homework doesn’t leave any time for extracurricular activities. Kids who do extracurricular activities often devote more effort to those activities than homework. Of course, many adults will argue that if the kids can’t handle the work, they should quit the sport or class; school is more important. But this isn’t the case. Although these facts came as a shock to me, they also piqued my interest. Because much of my growth can be attributed to the extracurricular activities I have invested myself in, I cannot imagine myself without the demanding cross country practices, or the baked goods I sell to raise funds for Relay for Life, or the Gwinnett Student Leadership Team seminars that my peers and I plan for our school. Although, at times, I become more stressed with the extra demands of my club activities, the fruitful results allow me to relax as my efforts become tangible. By running, baking and socializing, I was able to briefly escape the academic pressures put on me by…
The most significant extracurricular activity that I participate in would most likely be track and field during the indoor and outdoor seasons. I maintain a paid job and also help out at the local library, yet my experience as an athlete for Exeter High School has instilled within me invaluable time management skills, work ethic, and determination. Lettering all previous years I have competed, and being elected the team’s most valuable player last year, I work extremely hard on and off the track to achieve my goals. Balancing training with school can be difficult at times, but in a way I seem to work better having more on my plate. Receiving the scholar athlete award every consecutive season since sophomore year goes to show my greatly improved…
From a young age we’re asked what we want to be when we grow up, never how we expect to become when we grow up. I was well aware of what I wanted to become, but not sure how to get there until I started high school when my counselor explained to me the importance of having a full portfolio with a wide range of extracurricular activities. Then it became clear to me, I needed extracurricular activities to become who I wished to be. Throughout my high school career I’ve participated in several extracurricular actives such as math club, soccer and UIL One Act. In the future, I want to participate in these activities or anything similar to those I participated in high school.…
