Personal Narrative-Paid Analysis
The most significant extracurricular activity that I participate in would most likely be track and field during the indoor and outdoor seasons. I maintain a paid job and also help out at the local library, yet my experience as an athlete for Exeter High School has instilled within me invaluable time management skills, work ethic, and determination. Lettering all previous years I have competed, and being elected the team’s most valuable player last year, I work extremely hard on and off the track to achieve my goals. Balancing training with school can be difficult at times, but in a way I seem to work better having more on my plate. Receiving the scholar athlete award every consecutive season since sophomore year goes to show my greatly improved

I have debts of my own and still carry debt from my previous marriage. I tried to find more work during summer so I could save money for the green card fee, but I did not succeed. In September my classes return and I won't be able to work more than part-time. Adding to that I need to purchase books for those classes. What I currently make helps me to pay the minimum in my credit cards and other bills, and I spend the rest of my income in food, gas and personal needs. The savings I have is what is left of my tax return and college refund, and I try to save it in case I become unemployed and then could still pay the minimum in my bills until employed again.…

Sophomore year, I was named the frosh/soph team captain. Raised eyebrows and glares ensued from the gathered lineup, eyeing the lanky four-eyed nerd. Initially, I was highly discouraged by my teammates; they would seldom obey my callouts and instruction during practice, and if they did, they would do so only grudgingly. However, what unsettled me even more was that the majority of the team viewed the sport as a competition, vying to display superior skill and individual merit rather than teamwork. This proved to be a disaster, as our season began with a brief losing streak where our opponents dominated us through seamless teamwork.…

As I was writing my personal narrative for my composition 1 class, it easily made my mind boggle. After I had got started on my personal narrative, it was easy for me to keep writing and keep following along the story line. The main strength of mine that the essay played to was my creativity and my flexibility for different writings, because I have never written an essay as serious and sad as this one, but I did have to add my happy ending when I finished the story. I wanted it to be very attention grabbing with a twist, but I also wanted it to be very emotional.…

From a young age we’re asked what we want to be when we grow up, never how we expect to become when we grow up. I was well aware of what I wanted to become, but not sure how to get there until I started high school when my counselor explained to me the importance of having a full portfolio with a wide range of extracurricular activities. Then it became clear to me, I needed extracurricular activities to become who I wished to be. Throughout my high school career I’ve participated in several extracurricular actives such as math club, soccer and UIL One Act. In the future, I want to participate in these activities or anything similar to those I participated in high school.…

Since I have started middle school, I have grown and learned in my reading, writing, and thinking skills. A strength of mine that I noticed in all three grade levels was my ability to comprehend the theme and main idea of texts with many details. Another strength that I displayed through all grade levels was analytical thinking. I used and continue to use analytical thinking when reading, solving problems, and envisioning new ideas. A common weakness that continue to exhibit throughout middle school is transferring my thoughts and ideas from my mind to my paper. I always have wonderful ideas, but have difficulty putting my ideas into words for others to understand. I have shown significant growth in the area of connecting information to other information that I have learned.…

Do you ever get bored of telling a story over and over again? It’s like listening to a song so many times that when it comes on the radio you want to change it but can’t help but leave it where it’s at and sing along. That’s what happens when people ask me about being adopted: what happened? Why did it happen? When did it happen? But being adopted doesn’t ever change no matter how many times I tell the story. I always hear how jealous other people are of my life; “I get stuff handed to me”, “I don’t work for my things”, “I’m spoiled”, and whatever else has been passed around, but what they don’t see is the envy I look at everyone with when I see them with their parents or when I see a 5 year old is crying because they lost their mom is the store, when mine left me at the neighbor’s house.…
