One Significant Modern Invention
Who knew one modern invention would change modern life as we know it? Many would argue the smartphone already has. The smartphone is a modern invention that has quickly made a significant impact on modern life by enabling communication and providing many means of entertainment. To begin, the smartphone is a great way to communicate and stay connected. For example, I can send a quick text message to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Even if it’s a quick text on the way home, texting is a great feature. Not only that, I’m able to call whoever I need whenever I need them. Whether it’s a long distance call across the globe, or a quick conversation to tell your husband you’re going to be late for dinner, calling is a great way to reach your friends and family. Additionally, there are endless social media sites available on the smartphone, I can share pictures with Instagram, videos with Vine, short updates with Twitter, and many more. Finally, I’m able to chat face to face with video chat. There are many ways to video chat. For example, Oovoo, which is an application the consumer can download, or Skype, which is also an application. Yet another way to video chat is FaceTime, which is available with certain Apple products. With my smartphone, I’m always in close contact with my friends and family. Next, I’m always entertained with my smartphone. First, I can always download the books I love in seconds. For many, the Amazon Kindle is a favorite application for reading. Secondly, I’m always able to beat the next level of my favorite game, such as Angry Birrds or Temple Run. With millions of games on the ‘AppStore’, everyone’s bound to have a favorite. Lastly, I can download and listen to the latest music thanks to the widely popular iTunes on specific Apple products. Radio applications such as Pandora and iHeartRadio make music even more accessible. The smartphone is a unique modern invention
