!Social media is a perfect way for an individual to express themselves. Whether its through

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr etc… No matter which Social Network they use people always find a way to express their feelings and interact with people. There are good things and bad things that come with social media. The good thing is that people who find it difficult to have a face-face conversation find the internet a good source of material to communicate with people without feeling self conscious or nervous. The bad thing is that SOCIAL MEDIA IS MAKING US ANTI-SOCIAL and this is what I'm going to be focusing on today.!

!We know that we all (myself included) spend hours and hours on our phone going on social media

and we all know that its bad but we still do it because theres nothing else to do. This is stopping us from doing things and getting our work done. Spending a huge amount of time on social network makes us forget that we have a life outside social media and makes us forget about the terrible things that happens in the outside world. A lot has changed since like maybe 3-4 years ago, I look at little kids and i see them on their ipod’s, ipad’s and other other technology and it made me think about what might happened to them once their older and it really sadness me because when i think back to my time as a kid all i remember is playing game boy and pinball. So my point to this is that parents needs to stop giving their children’s iPods and take them outside and teach them something
educational.

In The Twitter Trap, Bill Keller argues that these new forms of media are “eroding characteristics that are essentially human: our ability to reflect, our pursuit of meaning, genuine empathy, and a sense of community.” He sees social media as aggressive distractions an attempt of contemplation. In many ways he may be right, but technology has a lot of benefits as well. Although advances in technology threaten the way we absorb and understand information, we must learn to incorporate the changes and use them to our advantage.…

In the past, mobile phones were in larger size and aren’t as convenient as it is now. Many students were also tested on how fast they can type. But nowadays, many teenagers are setting up new records with both their typing speed and the amount of text messages they send. I think it's got a lot to do with the world we live in. Social networking has taken the effort out of socialising with each other - we're locked away in our bedrooms, waiting for our news feeds to update. It's making us lazy. Okay, I totally understand if your cousins live in Australia but I feel these websites are not helping us socialise in person. They encourage people to be self-obsessed. With your own profile, your life is on show. People begin to compare themselves with each other and it becomes a fight for attention. Our lifestyles aren't helping us be good listeners. There are times when people have troubles and they need someone to talk to... well, actually they need someone to listen. And yet some people will still find a way to make it about themselves. "Oh, that happened to me too... etc." But sometimes you have to remember it's not always about you! So just listen and…
