Collaboration
One artifact that shows my growth in collaborating with peers is the stage directions for act one scene 5 of Romeo and Juliet. We added scene directions with a partner, and Amanda and I received a 9 out of 10. When we did this assignment earlier in the year, we didn’t know how to communicate our ideas to each other. The stage directions weren’t detailed enough because we had ideas, but didn’t know how to collaborate and share our ideas. Throughout the year, I learned how to work together more efficiently. This is exemplified in the literary devices project, which was successful and received a 60/60. At the beginning of the year it was hard to work with partners. One skill I learned that made it easier it collaborate is that you have to listen to others opinions, and not be afraid to voice your own. When no one shares their thoughts, you can’t do the assignment. If everyone is talking at once, and no one is listening to what others say, it is also difficult to collaborate. Also, as the year went on, I felt more comfortable sharing my ideas, which improved my collaboration skills. The two artifacts show this growth because the Romeo and Juliet staging was not successful and didn’t express our ideas, but as I learned to listen and share I was able to successfully collaborate in the literary devices project.

Technology/ Media Message One artifact that shows my ability to create a project using technology was the infograph. I made an infograph for my research project, in which I researched the topic barefoot running. Just while making the infograph I improved my computer skills, and learned how to better use technology. I used Piktochart, and at first I had a lot of trouble using it. I had never made an infograph before, or used a website like Piktochart. However, once I figured out how to use the website it was easy, and kind of fun to make the infograph.
This year I also learned how to evaluate media messages with the Prezi on

I have to say I honestly felt hesitant to do the partner project in the beginning due to my bad experiences working in groups in the past. Thankfully this experience was a total success, which has changed my outlook on group projects. Hannah was a joy to work with not only because she is a great writer but also because she is a great person. I had never actually written a full length research paper with another individual, and I think this also allowed me to be somewhat hesitant to the idea. Hannah and myself decided to talk about the fascinating story of “The Ministers Black Veil”, and we were able to construct an amazing research paper from the text. Studying and working has been through a significant change since the early ages. Before teamwork was introduced, personal skill was the only attributes that employers or other people look for in a person. Now, they must look for teamwork, adaptability and communication. These aspects are important in any teamwork whether it is in the workforce or in schools similar to what Bolman suggest that ‘Much of the work in large organisations in now done in small groups or team. When those teams work badly, as they often do, they can block even the most talented individuals from realising their potential’ (Bolman et al, 1992); evidently, experiencing first hand the success, complications and failures of teamwork whilst collaborating for the presentation.…

In her article Kari Franklin describes how she created a successful learning environment in which students developed proper social skills through peer conferencing. Some kids go to school for purely social reasons, Franklin realized that by introducing in- class discussions, she eliminated the need for excessive chatter during instructional time. After realizing that the group sharing was not working out, she looked at the peer conferencing from a social competence point of view. In peer conferences, students team up and share what they have written with one another. Not only does this activity improve conversations about writing, it also builds on core conversational skills through peer collaboration. Through trial and error Franklin went from peer editing, to peer response and finally settled on peer conferencing. An effective peer conference consists of multiple social skills…

One of the problems the team encountered while following the structure of the project was the inability to coordinate the efforts equally. Since there were approximately 10 other teammates, the major obstacles were making sure each team member was equally doing the same amount of work as everyone else. And so, our team implemented a solution in order to combat this obstacle. The team members spent a good portion of time discussing how to accomplish the goals set by the team. Our team coordinated…

My partner and I worked very efficiently together. The only arguments that happened concerned which lines or stage directions were better suited for the scene. The work was evenly distributed between the two of us throughout the assignment. It only took us about three hours to finish along with some off-topic conversations and snack breaks in between. John was responsible for corrections of the dialogue, typing the finished copy, and turning it in. John worked very well with the tasks he had. I was responsible for creating the majority of the dialogue and writing both the rough draft and final copy (we were under the impression that a written final copy was what was supposed to be turned in).…

    Collaboration and Argument

Collaboration changes the research process because it is a group ideal instead of an individual ideal. Collaboration gives each individual on the team the ability to share creative and innovative thoughts and interact with others by sharing ideas through critical thinking, preparation and work practice with individuals in defined areas which provide an opportunity for each team member to strive for higher standards within the group. Collaboration can be an incentive for the better-prepared students to provide assistance and encourage the members of the team who are most likely not going to meet the goal, and the less-prepared students are likely to work harder so as not to disappoint the other team members. By having a team leader it shares the accountability for student success through frequent use of collaboration as an approach to improving instruction for an effective use of common planning time. Collaboration encourages diversity with a social support system in a more personal environment that will aid in the development of skills, time management and problem solving that can be…

Central to the process of collaboration is working as a team, sharing responsibility and decision making, aspiring for the same goal, volunteering, and sharing resources. Additionally, it should be understood that everyone's voice and opinion counts, and that the process can vary, such as it can be informal, scheduled, or a spur-of-the-moment. Collaboration and sharing of resources greatly benefit the student and expands involvement in activities outside of school, such as joining the local recreational center (Taylor et al.,…

Most forms of art-theater, film, dance, architecture, music-are inherently collaborative. With rare exceptions, all involve the participation of more than one individual. Only those forms of art-such as literature, painting, sculpture, and musical composition-that we think of when we speak of the author, artist, or composer are generally taken to be the work of one extraordinary human being. But in fact, this was not always so. The concept of the isolated genius emerged in the Renaissance along with capitalism and, while most writing or musical composition seems indeed to be a solitary endeavor, every mode or style of visual art can be made collaboratively.…
