Luckily, I happened to already have the brain for math and science. I enrolled at the University of Kentucky, as a Biology major with a pre-med focus. However, over the next year I really focused on what I truly wanted to do, and what felt right to me. After extensive research during my spring semester freshman year, I applied to the Human Health Sciences program with a focus in Physician Assistant studies. Within this major I’ve have learned managerially skills; the advantages and disadvantages within the US health system in relation to those in other countries; basics necessary for PA school; and most importantly, cultural competencies. Reflecting holistically on what I’ve learned I have come to realize that although that day I was not treated in the way that I had liked to have been, there are millions of people in the US that are mistreated or denied health care based simply on a stereotype or
