b.one of the most powerful potential levers for change is not the children themselves, but rather the attitudes, beliefs and behaviors of the adults who surround them.
c.To help children living in poverty succeed, our best strategy may be to first help the adults in their lives.
2. A child with good parenting means fewer failures in life. Parents have an important role in the lives of their children. They should start at an early stage of their lives for better long-term influence in the lives of their children. If parents build a well-founded basis in their children they will grow up to be better people. Therefore, this is …show more content…
what this article shows. So, as parents want to give everything for their children should influence the same way in the growth of their children. So teach your kids that love, charity, respect, trust, self-esteem, etc., they can make them better citizens.
3. “The intervention that made the big difference in the children’s lives, as it turned out, wasn’t the added nutrition; it was the encouragement to the parents to play. The children whose parents were counseled to play more with them did better...”.
-Chapter 6, page 168: “parent influence their children gender development by action and by example...Both mothers and fathers are psychological important to the children’s gender development...”.
“Help children by supporting and coaching their parents”.
-chapter 6 ,page 170: “... it’s not just the quantity of time parents spend with children that is important for children development-the quality of the parenting is clearly important...”.
“Today, as adults, they earn an average of 25 percent more per year than the subjects whose parents didn’t receive home visits...”.
chapter 8, page 232: “...the value parents place on education can make a difference in whether children do well on school...”.
“...if we want to improve children’s opportunities for success, one of the most powerful potential levers for change is not the children themselves, but rather the attitudes, beliefs and behaviors of the adults who surround them...”.
-chapter 8, page 233: “...Parents can play an important roles as managers of children’s opportunities , as monitors of their behavior , and as a social initiators and arrangers...”.
4.The importance of parents in the development of children is beneficial. In this article, they relate and based on how well it does to children to have that union and development alongside their parents. Likewise, as shown by E. Erikson. Erikson was a great influencer of this theory, the psychosocial development. Erikson believed that five major stages occurred during childhood and that parents had an important role during this stage so that they can develop well before any activity or obstacle in their future lives.
Stage 1 : infants .- the baby need his parents for most of the basic things. stage 2: early childhood years.-He believed that parents should teach their children to make mistakes and show them gently, how to do things right. stage 3: parents need to set limits on their children. stage 4: Encourage them and show what they are capable of. stage 5 : in this last stage, Erikson believed that parents should give them encouragement and show them how to explore the world around
them.
Thereby, Erikson only highlights the biggest importance of parents at each stage of their children.
5. As a future mom to be,I would like to apply what I learned in my future kids , so that they can develop and perform better with others. Now I know that parents have a big role on children’s lives. It’s up to them that this society will get better. Consequently, the solution to everything is to teach and make parents educate and promote better things in their children ,so that the children perform well in their everyday lives. If parents are well trained , this would make better kids in school, at home and other areas. Thus, what it says in the article based on the experiment done is absolutely true.
“...To help children living in poverty succeed, our best strategy may be to first help the adults in their lives...”.
6. In this article, a longitudinal study was made with three groups of children and applying the experimental research, using 129 infants and toddlers. The experimental groups were the first and the second group. The first group got their parents to spend more time with them , the second group received a kilogram of milk supplement and the third one( the control group) received nothing. The results of this experiment showed that children who spend more time with their parents did better in life than those who received a milk supplement only.
Due that it is a experimental research, the descriptive or correlational research, can establish cause and effect.
“Non-experimental research methods(descriptive and correlational research) cannot establish cause and effect because they do not involve manipulating factors in a controlled way (Kantowitz, Roediger, & Elmes, 2015)”.
Therefore, at this point, the cause was children receiving attention and spending more time with their parents, the effect ( results) children did better in the long term period.
If we want to improve opportunities for children to success it is to change the way the adult around them act , their beliefs and behaviors.
7. secure attachment: a close, stable connection with the adults in their lives.
.“serve and return” interactions : encourage attachment, warmth and trust between parent and child.
