So you're thinking of working in care? Well, I will explain what is meant by duty of care. Duty of care ensures that people are taken care of and we are under obligation to do this in the way that is required. This means that you need to be aware of things that may go wrong and taking the best steps to prevent it and make wise choices about the decisions that you make. Health and social care organisations have a duty of care towards the people that they look after. This basically means that the people within the establishment should be kept safe from harm. The duty of care I have towards them is to ensure that their lives are made comfortable and receive a good quality of care. It is also essential that I report any mistreatment towards the residents. This is because I would be protecting them from possible harm or even injuries (which is part of the duty of care that I provide). In my role the best interests of the residents is always the main priority of all the care staff. \if I have reason to believe that a resident is not getting a good quality of care for their needs it is my responsibility to report it to prevent this from…
