commit suicide, and almost all who commit suicide have mental health problems and people with mental problems make distorted decisions. Some say that assisted suicide ends ends suffering and they can get around having to do treatments that will ruin their lifestyle. That might be true but really, it’s like having a doctor murder you. They really don't need to kill themselves even if they are suffering because we have medicines that help alleviate pain. They might even start getting better, but if they just kill themselves, then obviously, they have no chance..
According to Burke J. Balch, J.D., and Randall K. O'Bannon, M.A from Texas rights to life, “Almost all who commit suicide have mental health problems and people with mental problems make distorted decisions. Few people, if any, simply make a cool, rational decision to commit suicide. 93% - 94% of people who commit suicide suffer from some identifiable mental disorder... They might be exaggerating their problems and think that they should kill themselves.” Instead of helping them kill themselves, we should try to give them help with treatments and medicine that will help them. Ryan T.
Anderson, also states, “We should respond to suffering with appropriate medical care and human presence.” This topic could be debated either way. Is there really any reason to legalize this? If you're so sick that you need to kill yourself, you will die soon anyway without killing yourself. Assisted suicide is really just a form of murder assisted by the doctors. Hospitals make mistakes diagnosing people and that could cause someone to lose their life for no reason. They probably could've lived a lot longer.
Assisted suicide should not be legalized because few people if any make a cool rational decision to suicide, people with mental problems often make distorted decisions and we should respond to suffering with appropriate medical care and human presents. As you can see assisted suicide should not be legalized because people with mental problems might use it when they don't need to, and it will cause more people to die because the treatments that their getting out of could save their
life.
