Many of those homeless find it hard to get out of that state. This can easily be seen by the amount of homeless in the population. Difficulties of escaping are large in number: job loss, poverty, educational requirements, housing prices and job payment. Still people have found ways to get out of a homeless or chronically homeless state. Though it was hard, people like Chris Gardner had gone from homeless to rich through his hard work and dedication to give his son a better life …show more content…
than what his father had given him (Will Smith, Gabriele Muccino, 2006).
Contributing Factors
Many factors that contribute to not getting out of homelessness seem hard in various aspects. Losing a job can contribute to homelessness by causing poverty within a family. If you cannot afford basic needs, you will most likely not be able to afford a place to live. Prices of living also affect homelessness. Prices in the housing market seem to increase and decrease at a normal rate, while it seems the decrease in housing prices will help, prices of housing can still be too high for those without well paying jobs (The Data Team, 2016). A lack of educational requirements, as in high school, collegiate and further education, can hinder many from getting jobs, allowing them to not have a job, and therefore no money to get a home. Chris Gardner, the main protagonist in The Pursuit of Happyness, displayed this in the film. His lack of further education after high school did not allow him to get many jobs, which in turn did not allow him to get a well paying job (Will Smith, Gabriele Muccino, 2006). Well paying jobs are also factors that, if not having, can affect those who are homeless. Methods of escape.
The act of escaping homelessness can be difficult but people have done it before and others can do it now. It is a two way street to get people out of homelessness. First it is societies turn to help. Those who have ample money can give it to those in poverty so they can pay for necessary items. Also giving jobs to those who are homeless will help tremendously. We can build more shelters for people and give more to others instead of being greedy. However it is also on the homeless’ hands as well. People who are homeless should also be looking for jobs if at all possible, and to believe and never give up on getting out of the bad state they are in. Through perseverance, those in troubled spots can get through the tough times no matter the circumstance and escape their situation to a better
one.
