This current events article is about a middle aged man named Gregory Kloehn, who builds mobile homes, using less than $50 by finding recycled items that other people throw out. These shelters provide a safe, warm, and dry place for homeless who are stuck out in the streets. This article explains the difficulty that women face once a week each month. Periods come with lots of struggles, both mentally and physically. Even though they are many many homeless shelters required to hand out feminine products, women sometimes do not feel safe going to the male-dominated shelters. Women also have trouble finding safe spaces to change their clothes, if they have any. Having stained clothes can be embarrassing and lower the self esteem of many women. Because of the shame, the topic of periods can be hard to talk about for the homeless, which means seeking help is even harder. This source also introduced the problems of bathrooms that provide free toilet paper, but do not provide feminine products.
