Essay On Good Will Hunting

This movie was a all time classic I never watched the movie till about two years ago and after I watched it for the first time I have watched it at least six times in the last three months. It was created the year I was born in 1997 but who would know it would be one of my favorite movies of all time. “The $80 million-plus earned by the quality indie blockbuster hits released later in the decade— Good Will Hunting”(The Business Of Hollywood). This was a known blockbuster film that made it one of the greats in the 1990s. The chosen location or background was Boston because Will Hunting, from South Boston who works for the infamous Massachusetts Institute Of Technology as a Janitor and solves a Mathematical problem that took more than two years to prove. He got the job from his P.O or probation officer as a janitor and the MIT Professor Gerald Lambeau former fields winner in Mathematics finds out Will Hunting’s Mathematical Genius. Hunting does not like showing his true self of being a smart kid compared to his best friends. To me there is many people like that in the world a kid I knew got accepted to the University Of Florida on a full ride scholarship but the rest of his friends were going to the local community college and he decided to go to the community college because he
felt different and did not want to expand his academic success with other smart people at the university but eventually decided to stay home with his friends he's been with since elementary school. I related to this film because of the situation that kid did when I was in High School with him. My overall impression of the film is do not limit yourself because somebody would kill to have what talent of gift you have.
At the end of the day you have to do what is best for you and most of the time your friends will want what is best for you. Take your talent and use it and it will do wonders for you. In this film it shows that when Will Hunting friend Chuckie (Ben Affleck) says in the film “it would be an insult if you're still here in 20 years” (Good Will Hunting). This shows that he wants the best for his best friend because it will make him successful in life and get him out of limiting himself everyday and go explore something new and make more money than staying in
Boston. This movie to me try to get to the audience of young kids by saying do not waste your talent because everyone has one so do not waste it till it is too late. Use your talent to explore the world, make money and meet people. If you use your talent it will do wonders in your life because you never know who would want what you have. So expand your talents and you will find yourself making money and love what you are doing. It also says to me it does not matter where you come from because their are many hidden gems in this world that waste their talents everyday. The movie Good Will Hunting uses all the characteristics of race,gender,class and history. It seems like their is many people out there that limit themselves for their friends and family. It shows no matter where you come from there is somebody that haves a gift but chooses not to use it. They do not want to seem different from their surroundings. This movie to me is most relatable than most films I have seen and has the sense of being real and authentic. I really suggest watching this movie because not only was it one of the best films in the 1990s but has award winning actors such as Robin Williams, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Many films will represent something or have a message to them and Good Will Hunting has a powerful one by using race,gender,class and history and appealing to a certain audience.
