There are several social injustice issues in our society today. For instance, there is a foreseen lack of equality, there is discrimination and biases. Along with that, there are restrictions and conflict to any religion practiced along with various dynamics that people feel as though our society effects. However, to me on a day to day base, I see a prevalent issue that really has no definitive solution. This issue is poverty and it is widespread reaching every country in the world affecting many in ways that we could not even fathom.
Over all, I believe that poverty is a motivator in choices that individuals make. Therefore, like all social justice issues, you will often see the situational and/or emotional responses of fight, flight or freeze for the individuals who live in poverty. Due to these responses, an individual is likely to react to their environment. In any case, it could be linked to unhealthy coping skills, desperation to provide food, clothing and housing or trying to regain control in a life full of chaos. However, the decisions that poverty often times invoke are the reasons as to why children are placed in to the foster care system (i.e. substance abuse issues, theft, physical/sexual abuse). As an individual in my community, I feel not only hopeful but obligated to help the children affected by the cycle of poverty and the repercussions that the cycle brings. In brief, I believe that poverty is the motivating issue that inspired my career choice. To me, when given the opportunity, I would like to help families obtain the resources that are implemented to lessen the affects of poverty and hopefully help the family regain confidence and
