My personal response called One is a large canvas sporting a range of images that have been collated from popular magazines such as Who and Vouge. Each individual image has been carefully cut out and a gold star has been positioned on their clothing with their eyes blackened out. These individuals are the representation of the innocent people that were persecuted by their religion or lifestyle choices. Well known celebrities have been used to establish to the viewer that the persecuted were generalised and confined to a way of life wearing a façade. Celebrities today are generalised in the way the German-Jews were 80 odd years ago by the word famous. As explained by Harry Styles in One Direction’s This Is Us documentary, “when people are labelled famous it takes away the substance of that individual. And then it becomes a thing where anything after that, whatever you choose afterwards, if it’s not as famous or more famous then it was before you’re considered a failure.“

Hitler is the most remembered person from World War II and the events of the Holocaust due to his vision. His vision was to dominate and cleanse the human race with the superior Aryan race consisting of people with blonde hair and blue eyes. This included exterminating the Jews, Russians and polish, the disabled and anyone who helped the following. He aimed in exterminating the inferior races and takes over countries in order to have more living space and recourses for Aryans so Germany could be self-sufficient. His religious belief was that pure blooded Aryans could be gods and so he ultimately tried to bring back these gods by purifying the blood
