Essay on the Life of a Student
From the day I started kindergarten up until the present, it has always been drilled in me the importance of having an education. My mother’s favorite line is, “It is your education or your life and it’s not the second one.” She emulated that belief in her intense involvement at all levels in the educational system. It has always been said that the greatest threat to our security is an uneducated society and we as a society should and must demand that of our leaders and of ourselves. As a family we found our voice in the perfect venue and that was the PTSA.
I never really grasped the concept and the depth of that meaning until tenth grade year in high school. Since I can remember my mother floated between President and Vice President of the PTSA from elementary all the way on up to high school. Members of the PTSA decided to create a scholarship based on need and academic achievement but more important we wanted to make a difference and a statement. As a voting member and a student I felt that it was incumbent upon me to inject my beliefs and ideas into the process. What came to life was the Fordson High School PTSA Scholarship Fund. Yes, I was then elected to be the honorary speaker that evening to introduce the start of the scholarship. For the first couple of years we awarded two scholarships in the amount of $1000.00 for some very outstanding students. A year later in collaboration, with the Fordson Alumnus, we went from a couple thousand to forty thousand in scholarships given to students who were accepted at our top universities in the State of Michigan. In the year after, we gave away fifteen thousand in scholarships which solidified the value of a decent education and the bringing together of a community. Since then, the Fordson High School PTSA has grown in numbers, from the parents on down to the students. More important than the recognition, and the money raised, it is the passion and potential that this organization has given the young men and women

The move Amistad and the story “Interesting Narrative of the life of Olaudah Equiano” have many similarities. The three similarities between the story and Amistad are the ways that the slaves were treated, the conditions of the ships, and the reactions of the slaves. In both the movie and the book slaves had to overcome horrific conditions to be freed, In the movie the main character Cinque was captured sold and thrown onto the Amistad and into the life of slavery but yet he was fought for and he finally made it home, In the story Olaudah finally was also on a slave ship and was sold into slavery.…

The four pillars of National Honors Society, scholarship, service, leadership, and character, have paved a path for me as a student and as a person. Scholarship has taught me to strive to be the best student I can be. I use scholarship to keep up with my school work and never give up when a class is hard. I always strive for the best grade I can get and I will stop at nothing until I reach my goal. I will continue to use scholarship as I go to college and pursue my dream as a pediatric dentist. I will study, I will learn, and I will never give up no matter what happens along the way. I use service when I volunteered to help my local private school. I was never asked to do so, but I felt as if I was giving back to a school that had done so much…

There was a time when one out of a human marriage’s used to end in a divorce. “ A divorce is like and ampulation: you survive it, but there’s less of you” by Margaret Atwood. It is a legal action between married people to terminate their marriage relationship. It can also be defined as the dissolution of marriage. In my opinion, for almost all people it is very hard to deal with this kind of situation. No one enters a marriage life believing that some day it will end up in divorce but due to their habits, feelings, misunderstandings most of the marriages are ending up. The divorce rates have increased since the Divorce laws has been introduced in 1968, 20% of all divorces in Canada are a repeat divorce for atleast one of the spouses. With that, the divorce rate for first marriages is lower than the divorce rate for all other marriages. There were 27,577 divorces in Ontario in 2001 and the statistics showed that the number of marriages are declining and the number of the families living in common- relationships are increasing, although these relationships also lead to marriage but are short lived.…

Hello Dr. Aaron Oberman and fellow classmates. I’m excited to be taken this course because I’m almost at the finish line of completing my degree. I have been working in social services for almost 15 years helping adults meeting their needs while aiming at becoming self-sufficient. I enjoy my job, but I’m burned out, meaning my job no longer brings me the same satisfactions as it did 15 years ago. I reevaluated my life giving consideration to my age, family and happiness and decided it was time for a career change. As an undergrad student, I recall an instructor telling us in life most people will have a job and a career. Social Services is currently my job and school counseling will be my career. With age I have learned helping others…

Throughout this novel there are a lot of characters worthy of comparing and contrasting, however I've decided to analyze Matsu, and Stephen relationship. The base of Matsu and Stephen relationship sort of reminds me of a George and Lennie relationship from the “Of Mice and Men Tale”, in which George carries around Lennie like a helpless pet by caring for him, guiding him through life, and bailing him out of the sticky situations he gets himself in.…

I realize that it is necessary to risk failure in order to gain success. Over the years, playing sports has taught me what it takes to succeed. From months of tough practices, I have gained a great work ethic. From my coaches and fellow teammates, I have learned to work well with others in a group, as it is necessary to cooperate with teammates on the playing field and off. But most important, I have gained self-confidence. If I fail, it doesn’t matter if they mock or ridicule me; I'll just try again and do it better.…
